We're team green, but LO's heartbeat has been in the 170's (in the beginning - 8 week ultrasound), and now down in the 160's, but usually high 160's (was 168 at 24 week appt). Our midwife swears by the heartbeat method - 160 and higher is a girl, and lower than 160 is a boy. My friend had a DD who's heartbeat was in the 130's, and there are obviously exceptions to every rule. I was just surprised to hear our midwife buy into what I thought was one of these "old wives tales". Are there a lot of people who experience this tale to be true?
Re: LO's heartbeat and determining gender?
Girl.
I'm not sure yet. My LO's heartrate runs around 172-178. I'll let you know March 5th.
DD hb was 160-170s
We just found out we are having a boy and it has been in the 130's
The source I found said above 145 is girl and below 145 is boy.
DD's heart rate was always right around 145.
This baby has been 150s to 160s so far.

My son has been 156 at every appointment since 12 weeks...
Scientific study has proven that heart rate does not predict gender.

At my appointment two weeks ago the heartbeat was 158bpm. It hasn't been above 160 at any appointment and she is all girl!
This is the worst OWT of them all....
DS was always in the 170's.
DD is always in the 130's.

My mother's doctor told her based on my heartrate that he would bet girl. Granted that was 27 years ago but it still was a dr saying girls tended to have higher heartrates.
My LO is 170bpm -- but the NT Scan guessed boy as the gender. We will see on March 3rd!
