Infertility

Woohoo! Ins. covered labs!

So, a couple weeks ago I posted about my sticker shock from the nearly $800 lab bill we got for bloodwork.  The financial specialist at my RE's office said she didn't think insurance would cover it...but I went ahead and filed it anyway and we got the notice today that it was covered 100%!!!  I'm so relieved, it's one less thing out of our pockets.  Oh, and the funny thing is that ins. negotiated the fees from $800 to $90.  Talk about ridiculous that we almost had to pay that.

  • Oh yay!!!  That's awesome!

It irks me to no end that OOP we pay SO much more than insurance companies!

  • Wow!  That's really great!  It always pays to ask questions and try!
  • That's great!  Congrats!
TTC since April 2008. DH: severe MFI; IVF w/ICSI X 2 = BFN. SAIFW!
  • My ins. company doesn't pay for labs, but all I have to pay OOP is what they would pay if it was covered on my particular policy... so my initially $1400 lab work bill became $150, and my $80 progesterone check became $19.  I wish everything I was OOP for worked like that!
