Still running a fever of over 101 without meds...not eating (she's had a few crackers today, that's it). Sleeping off and on all day, her fluid intake is good, wet diapers, and a regular poop. ER doc said it could be like a 5 dayer, but I'm wondering if I should take her in anyway. Puking once/twice a day max.
I really, really hate this (even with all the free nesting time). She just seems so miserable.
Re: Should I take her to the pedi tomorrow?
I guess you have to ask yourself - "What do I want the pedi to do?". Are you seeking a 2nd opinion? More tests? Different Medication? If the answer to one of those questions is yes, then absolutely! If not, then it may be a frustrating visit because they will mostly likely tell you the same thing as the ER doc. But if your gut just says "go", then go. Only you know what's normal or tolerable for your child. If something else seems to be going on, you could be right.
For example, fever/vomiting can be a sign of UTI in children. Even if she had a clear test in the ER, something could have developed or perhaps needed a culture to be positive. Both DD and I never have positive "dips" but everytime I've had symptoms of a UTI (and DD's one) - it only came back positive when they cultured it for 48 hours.
I would definitely call and talk to the nurse tomorrow. I always ask them if *they* think I should bring in the girls.
Hope she's on the mend fast. That's a lot of puking.
