question for EPers

I bf but with DS I would like to pump and give a bottle more often than I ever did with DD.  How do you give bottles when you are out and about?  Do you take room temp bottles and give them like that?  Do you try to always find a way to warm them or something?

Re: question for EPers

  • Breastmilk doesn't have to be refrigerated right away and can stay room temp for around 5 hours. So I usually take a fresh, room temp bottle with me and my LO will take it as is. He is not picky about the temp as long as its not super cold from the fridge. Good Luck!

  • If we are headed out, I put a bottle or two from the fridge into my diaper bag.  By time she is ready to eat (usually within 3 hours), it is either room temp or just slightly chilled.

  • Room temp.  If it was going to be a long day (like Easter), I packed an extra bottle in a cooler and heated it up with warm water.

  • LO is not picky about the temp of the bottle - she just wants to be fed.  Usually if I know I'm going to be gone for more than 1-2 hour, I will pump before I got and bring that bottle with and maybe more in a cooler depending on how long i'm going to be gone.If I am going on a quick trip, then I will just grab a bottle from the fridge in case LO gets hungry while we're out.

  • Thanks for the imput.  I am not concerned about the time limits on milk.  I haven't gotten him to drink a bottle from me yet but I'm going to have my DH start giving a room temp bottle in the evening so he'll get used to it.
