First of all, when are you supposed to have your pedi picked out? I've heard various things, like by 3rd tri, but can't find anything good online.
Does anyone have experience with the following practices? If so, please share good/bad. Thanks!!!
Capital Physicians Group
Cornerstone Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine
Jeffers, Mann, and Artman
North Raleigh Peds
Raleigh Family Practice
Raleigh Pediatric Assc
Re: Triangle pedi question!!
Well, I had intentions of going to 1 Pedi, and then when I went into labor the nurse at the hospital needed the info, so I just changed it then and there.
And the "new" pedi came to see us the next morning.
I think that as long as you have someplace in mind while you're at the hospital (so they can visit you before you leave), that's all that really matters ...
ditto mered19 on not having to decide till u are actually in labor and u tell the nurse. I dont have any experience with the doctors on your list as we use White Oak Peds in Raleigh by Rex. But there are a bunch of girls on the board that use Jeffers and Mann.
LOVE Raleigh Peds. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the doctors, the staff, etc.
ETA: I was all torn up because I thought we missed the "important" meet n' greet with the doctors. But at Raleigh Peds, the doctor actually met us after hours to have a one-on-one talk at 36 weeks since we missed all "meet n greets." He was awesome.
Love JM!
ETA: I usually go to their Cary office, and rarely have a wait. I think the most I've waited was around 10 minutes. I've been to the Raleigh office a few times, and had to wait about 30 minutes each time. So I think the wait varies by location (and I obv. prefer Cary b/c waiting, with a baby, is no fun!

I go to Jeffers and Mann, usually in the Clayton office but I have been to Raleigh and Cary. I try to see the same dr. every time, but it doesn't always work out due to them rotating (our main ped rotates between Cary and Clayton). I had issues with them previously with not diagnosing my son for four months when all they needed was a simple nasal swab, and I have waited numerous times for almost an hour. I took O there last week and waited for 1.5 hours in the exam room with NO ONE checking in or letting me know what was going on, and finally I just left and had to reschedule. I do love the dr. we see, and she knows us, calls us personally, I can talk to her about anything and it is usually pretty comfortable.
I went to White Oak Pediatrics for 2 or 3 appointments a couple months ago, and they were ok but I did not get warm fuzzies from them - hence going back to JM. I am looking for somewhere new, but not until O turns one and we figure out some personal things. I think a big thing you need to figure out first is if you want a large or a small practice.
I love North Raleigh Peds! It's a moderate sized practice (5 drs). All the staff from clerical to nurse to MD have been awesome. Always respond promptly to calls, can always get an appt and very little wait time. Can't say enough about them!
And ditto everyone else, you don't have to pick your pedi until you deliver really!
I don't have personal experience, but a friend had an interesting one with North Raleigh Peds. Her doc said that her son was tilting his head too far to one side and that he should go to physical therapy. Friend saw a slight tilt but nothing bad, so she sent video to her aunt who is a physical therapist. Aunt said he has a slight tilt, just make these couple of adjustments and he'll be good to go.
Meanwhile, North Raleigh Peds made a PT appt for the baby, which my friend cancelled. Doc called friend to ask about the appt and gave friend major attitude for cancelling. Then, friend got a letter that basically said, "If you don't go to the PT appt, you can find another doc." Friend didn't like their attitude, so she found another doc anyway.
So, that's just one experience, but I find it interesting that a doc's office would "kick you out" for choosing to ignore their opinion. Parents choose other routes for their kids all the time, so I'm not sure why that one mattered so much.
holy cow on that wait time!!!
That being said, we've never waited more than 10 minutes, & that was for an emergency visit where they shoved me in between patients.
