Anyone else hate milk?

I know Calcium is key here, but I hate milk.... I read somewhere that I need to take Calcium vitamins, but to check the label for something and I can't remember for the life of me what that was.  Does anyone know? TIA

  • I have no idea either! I HATE milk as well. I've been trying to eat lots of cheese and drink orange juice w/ calcium. Some days I do better than others. And my nausea is so that I cannot handle yogurt right now. I will probably discuss this issue when I first meet with the OB.
  • I just thought of it...maybe you're supposed to check that it is pasteurized. I've been checking everything to make sure it's pasteurized.
  • me!  i loathe milk. but i eat a ton of raw broccoli.  the most calcium-rich veggies are cabbage, spinach, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, eggplant, kale, parsley, peas, pumpkin, turnip, dandelion and asparagus.
  • Hi - I absolutely hate milk too (even chocolate), so my dr recommended taking tums with calcium.  It has 800mgs and it helps with heartburn too! I don't like the taste, but it's better than drinking a glass of milk.
  • It is illegal to sell unpasteurized milk products in the US.

  • my doctor recommended taking calcium supplements with vitamin D to help with absorption.
  • Oh, I hate milk too. I find if I dont take my prenatal vitamin I crave ice cream. my OB told me my prenatal vitamin should be enough though. And I stressed to her my hate for milk, I haven't drank a glass since I was like, 7.

  • Some prenantal pills have the calcium you need and milk isn't always the best source of calcium. We need 1000 mg of calcium a day check to see how many mg's your prenatal vitamins have. Some don't have it at all so check the label to see if yours does. I have been drinking orange juice enriched with calcium every morning, I love oranges...

    If you haven't been prescrbed Prenatals and you buy them over the counter make sure they have a USP or NSF International certification seal.

    Absolutely do not forget folic acid it is also very important. Neural tube defects like spina biffida happen in the first 4-6 weeks of pregnancy.  600mg....
