Anyone else's kid done with the high chair?

I think K is.  She hasn't been eating well at all lately and when we put her in her high chair she just sits and cries.  She may eat a couple of bites and then she's done.  This morning, she hopped in a normal kitchen chair so I just gave her her breakfast there...and she actually ATE!  No crying, no fussing, sat there and ate.

It seems so early to be refusing the high chair but I guess if she'll sit and eat in a normal chair it's ok.  Just curious if others this age were doing the same thing.

  • Last night DD wanted to eat at her little table so we let her and she actually ate better.  I guess she thinks she is a big girl now.

  • We ditched the high chair when K was around your DD's age and bought a booster seat. She was MUCH happier being able to eat at the table with us (not that the high chair was that far away). We even have one of the Chico high chair's that you can lower to table height, but she was done with it, so off to storage it went.

  • We  had one of those space saver high chairs that strap into a regular chair. I was tired of cleaning the tray, so I took the tray off and scooted him up to the table. He was fine with it and now I only have to wipe down the table. Soooo much easier than cleaning out that damned tray with the cup holder etc.

  • DS was a couple weeks ago. It was breakfast time, and I told him it was time to sit in his chair to eat. He went right past the highchair and pulled out one of the chairs at the table. I hooked up his booster seat that we use for traveling. He gobbled down his breakfast in record time without a peep. It went down in the basement the next day.
  • Jack's been eating in a booster seat at the table for quite some time now.  He loves sitting at the table with mom and dad!
  • My dd is also doing much better eating when we sit her at the big table with us.  She looks so proud of herself sitting there...definitely thinks she's hot stuff!

  • we ditched the high chair right around her 1st birthday. I think they sometimes use at daycare but she hates it at home. Much happier in her booster with us.
  • That is Jack exactly Southern.  He wants nothing to do with the highchair anymore, he wants to be at the table and in a 'normal' chair.

  • DS got a booster seat for the table at Christmas, so he's been sitting in that for meals now.  He loves it!  He never got to the point where he cried in his high chair though...we just figured he was getting too big, so we moved him up.
