I didn't say anything before, I just didn't feel like it because it is something I just didn't want to acknowledge until I knew more.
My great-aunt and great-uncle moved to Haiti the week I got married (so in Oct. 07) and have been there ever since because my g-aunt is a UMC minister; they went to run a church and their outreach programs.
The family had been waiting to get word on them all this time and we finally did this afternoon. They were finally able to get an email out and they are both OK.
I feel such a sigh of relief that they are safe and healthy. It was extremely scary not knowing. My heart and prayers goes out to everyone who is still waiting to hear.
They have asked that everyone who can send prayers and any assistance they can because it is just a disaster there. They did not say much else because they had limited access to the internet, but I urge everyone who can to assist in any way they can.
Re: Sigh of Relief
I am so glad they are ok.
They are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Oh, that is great news! DH's cousin is in Haiti and we didn't hear from her for more than a week. We were so worried. Luckily they are fine and working on helping with the devestation also.
Lot's of thoughts and prayers!
That's great news. I hope they stay safe and are doing okay out there.
