I thought showers were for the bride?

At my shower I did not receive one thing for my home. ?It was all about me. I received everything ever made by VS, plus a lot of lotion and gift certs for pampering.

Is that odd? ??

I don't think it's odd. My shower was the same. People sent H and I both wedding gifts though.

Mine was the opposite, I got all home stuff and only one piece of icky lingerie from DH's cousin (who happens to be a stripper).

Around here, showers are stuff for the home. Bachelorette parties include intimate/personal gifts. Wedding is almost always just money or personal (customized) gifts.

At my shower people got me things off of my registry, which were things for our house.

I didn't have a bachelorette party, but from those that I have been to, most brides receive VS stuff/other things like that at that point.

I think it depends on what kind of shower it is.

Around here we often have lingerie showers combined with the bachelorette party, where the bride gets the lingerie gifts.

At an Around the House shower it's mostly stuff for the house, at a bridal tea, it's mostly fine china, crystal, silver, etc. At a stock the bar shower, it's all liquor. (which didn't even last until our 1st wedding anniversary!)

We have 'Lingerie Showers' for the lingerie, lotion, gift cards, pampering, etc. We usually do these and then go out for the Bachelorette party.

Then we have the Bridal Showers for the home.

We call lingerie showers "personal showers". I had a personal shower before my bachelorette party, but my other showers were regular showers (housewares). Unless it says specifically on the invite that it's a lingerie/personal shower, I've only seen people bring gifts off the registry or other household items.

'Round these parts those are called "personal showers". I've been to one like that. I had two bridal showers, neither was a personal shower... but I did get a couple personal items (lingerie, earrings, etc) at one of my showers.

At my shower I recieved items for our registry. I like the idea of these personal showers though. I did not get any lingerie; maybe I'm lucky!

ditto the other ohio ladies. i guess we just figure to have the personal shower at the bach party where you assume you won't want to die bc you got crotchless panties in front of your MIL or grandma.
