Who puts gas in your car?

Just curious do you or your DH/SO fill your car up when it's on empty?

Re: Who puts gas in your car?

  • I do....I am a single mom...no one to do it for me.
  • Loading the player...
  • DH does it a lot.  I hate getting gas.  I'll do it if I'm on "E" and can't make it somewhere but DH usually fills her up for me :)
  • If I am alone, I do it. If DH is with, he does it. Not sure why, he's just weird about it.?

  • If he is in the car at the time, he does. If I am driving and notice we are low I do it.
  • He doesn't drive my car, so me.

If for some reason he has it and it's low he'll stop and fill it up.

  • I do if I'm in it and need gas and Dh isn't with me.  If he is with me or I'm not driving it he will fill it up/go out and fillup for me.

  • Me?  I didn't even know DH would be an option, LOL.  I am the sole driver of my car, so I fill it up either on my way to or on my way home from work.

If I asked him to go fill up my car after he got home from work (he gets home 45 minutes after me), he'd probably laugh at me.  Although, I could see where further along in the pg, it might be something he could do to help me out.

  • I do.  And this just reminded me that I need to fill up today.  Bleh.
  • UM...ME!  Why wouldn't I?  Unless DH is the one using it, but why wouldn't I, seriously!
  • If its just me, then i do. but if DH is in the car, he does.

  • I DO, and the last time I stopped to fill up, he was in the passenger seat and did not even offer to pump it for my fat pregnant a$$!!

    This.

  • I am terrible about noticing when the tank is running low. DH is usually the one to fill it up and I get in trouble. I just filled it up yesterday though and I was pretty proud for remembering.

  • We are typically together in the car because we commute together so dh almost always does it.  I used to fill my car up all the time when we didn't commute together and once the baby is born and we are no longer together all the time I will go back to filling up the car if it's empty.  We don't actually have his/her cars, more of a commuting car and an SUV for when we need it or when we are going short distances.
It took 3 1/2 long years, but we finally got our little miracle!

  • Usually I do. My my fil fills up my mil's tank everytime. He even keeps an eye on her tank, sorta assumes when she's low and takes it upon himself to just go out (even in the rain/snow) to fill her up.  Here's to hoping hubby takes that trait from his dad!!!

  • well since i really dont leave the house that much anymore, dh takes it when its low and fills it up on base. dh normally always fills it up

  • I usually do.  But if he's out in my car and it needs gas, he'll fill it up for me.

Same here. Especially now that I am pregnant.

  • DH and I carpool so he normally will fill it up.  Since being pg when I get out at the pumps the attendants will offer to do it for me b/c of the fumes.  When I try and give them a tip they decline. Tongue Tied

I don't mind gas fumes at all but they insist. lol

  • I do it myself, unless he's driving it when it's low.

  • I fill up my own car. DH and I still have our monies separate. He has his spending money and I have mine.

This exactly. While i live in NY now for the past few years i still don't pump my own gas. I'm sure I could figure it out but I'm a Jersey Girl! LOL We usually are back in NJ on a weekly basis so if it's just me I'll get gas while in NJ. If it needs gas in NY DH will do it <3

  • I do, we have seperate vehicles. DH never drives my car unless we go somewhere as a family in it.

  • I'm responsible for my own "gas".

    hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

  • I do when I'm alone, but my husband will do it if we are together because that's just the way he is.  I'm the one who drives my car though (majority of the time anyway) so 99% of the time it's me.  It's the same for his truck too, except I can't remember the last time I filled his truck..... he just does it when we are together!!!

  • Me. He never drives my car...even if we're together I'm driving because he HATES to drive, lol

I pump my own gas. I also would change a flat tire on my own if I got one while driving without calling my husband. I know how to check my fluids and how to jump start a car. When I got my driver's license my dad wouldn't let me drive until I knew how to do all of the above.

At the time I thought it was silly, but now I'm glad I know how. I've had to help many a helpless woman jump start her car because she didn't have cables or because she had them but didn't know how to use them.

  • I always got my own gas, but suddenly DH feels that he needs to do all the gas fill-ups for both cars.  I'm not complaining!!

  • DH does it for me usually.... my dad always did it for me and my mom so he sort of inherited it.

DH offers to fill mine up sometimes, especially when it's super cold outside.

Ditto. It's "unlawful" for us to do it ourselves (the customer, that is).

However, when I lived in NY back in the day, I did it myself. Nice to be in NJ where we CAN'T pump our own AND it's cheaper Big Smile!

  • If we're driving together and the gas is low, he'll fill it up. If I'm by myself, I'll do it. It's not like I'm going to drive my car home on empty and expect him to go back out and fill it up for me...
  • DH lives out of state so I do it.
  • I fill up my own tank. If I don't feel like it, I will wait 'til a weekend & have my husband in the car with me & he will get out and do it - but most of the time it's one of my lunch time errands every other week!
