VENT: co-worker kinda long

Ok, so I just NEED to get this off my chest, it has been festering!  So one of my co-workers (actually she is the office secretary), when I give her work to help me out typing, etc.  She messes it up ALL the time, I mean like big mistakes!  So I waste my time fixing it, then she will give it back to me with the same mistakes - um, do you even look at it!  And she hands it to me like she did a lot of work!  What!  I don't know if I should say something, but at this point it would come out really bad because it has been months that she has been making mistakes.  What really gets me is my boss knows she is not good and he says nothing, just teases about it!  So not only does she slow down my work, my boss thinks it's funny and he told me to do my own typing if it was slowing me down even though my desk is piled high with work.  Oh, but he has his own secretary so it doesn't matter to him.  Any advice is fine, but I really needed to vent.

Oh, and this is the boss that says since having a baby, I no longer give 110% only 100% Super Angry.  Can we say looking for another job?  Maybe I am only doing 100% because I have to do everything!!!!!

    We had this problem with one of our admins here, and it turns out the boss was banging her after hours on the conf rm table.  Just sayin'.

    I am also in the "looking for another job" camp.  GL.

    That is really annoying.  I had a clerk who used to give me correspondence with words spelled wrong...um, spell check?  Then she would "correct it" and bring it back with the wrong form of a word...yes, this girl ended up graduating Summa from law school Hmm

    As an admin myself...you need to tell her that she needs to do better.  When you give her an assignment, ask her to proofread for any errors before she hads it back to you.  When you find the errors - confront her and say. Listen I just found all these errors...did you proofread this?

    Confrontation is the best fix to a situation.  I am the lead admin in a department of 60 ppl and one of my admins was messing up big time by not proofreading.  Finally I started checking her work and asking her if she proofed them.  She got embarrassed and the situation was fixed. She also was not maintaining a clean desk (she is front desk of dept) so I went over there and started helping her organize.  We got about 1/4 of the way through when we broke for lunch.  I came back an hour later and she was 75% done.  Sometimes people need a push 

    ITA.  by the way I'm from Miami too.  I miss my family but not the craziness of the city.

    Your boss is an ass. Do you have an HR department you can complain to? They may be able to play mediator between you and your boss to allow him to gain some understanding into this situation or give you tools on how to approach this. Sorry that you have to deal with this. GL on finding a new job.
