3rd Trimester

The lunch meat post got me thinking....

Have any of you used your pregnancy as an excuse not to do things you don't want/like to?

For example:  when we found out I was pregnant I told DH that I'm not allowed to clean the toilets or the shower...because it's bad for the baby.  Mind you, we use chemical free cleaners in our house and even if there are chemicals, I'm not sure it's a no-no.  I just didn't want to, so I made it up.  :-)

Re: The lunch meat post got me thinking....

  • We went camping with some friends back in August and told them I couldn't eat sausage because that's what they wanted to bring for food.  One of the other couples we went with put me up to it and it worked out great.

  • I used pregnancy as an excuse to not go to an OOT bridal shower that I just did not want to spend the money on. I told the bride I wasn't allowed to fly.  I was the MOH and felt bad, but I really did not want to go!

But that's the only thing...I think using pregnancy as an excuse is lame.

  • I haven't cleaned the shower or toilets either :) I never used it as an excuse my DH assumed I couldn't so I went with it!
  • I "assigned" the bathroom cleaning to DH. He was supposed to clean them every Sunday, it backfired on me. Our bathrooms have never been more gross.Ick!
    Effing crazy people.
  • I told DH I couldn't do the dishes anymore.  I said I have a sensative nose now and can smell everything and the dishes just make me vomit.  So he does them.  Also, I hve doing the kittie boxes so I said I couldn't do it anymore (which is true to an extent...I could just use gloves and a mask to clean it and shower afterwards, but who really wants to clean the kittie boxes anyway).
  • I wish I would have thought of the "can't clean toilets anymore" idea a long time ago.  I think it's too late now...

  • Well, it's not something I made up, but my doctor told me to stop vaccuuming due to my back and hip pain.  I think that if my DH hadn't been sitting there with me, he'd never have believed it!

  • Ha! I wish. I've continued to pull as much weight, if not more, around our house as before I was pregnant. My H is great about saying "Do you need help?" after I've already done 5 out of the 6 loads of laundry. My very favorite was when I had a bout of sciatica so bad that I had to all but crawl up our stairs. I came up to take my PNV before I went to bed and while I was standing at the cupboard he called from the couch and asked me to bring him some ibuprofen for his headache. Lovely.

  • We told family that we couldn't be more than an hour away from our hospital starting at 30 weeks. All of a sudden, both of our families had gotten really clingy and needy and wanted to see us every. single. free. minute that we had. It was weird so we put a stop to all the phone calls pretty quickly.

But as for getting out of cleaning and such? No.

  • Not cleaning the cat litter and carrying laundry up and down the stairs!!!
  • no I haven't..but I haven't had to either.  DH won't let me do much of anything.  After two miscarriages he thinks everything is bad for me to do.  It sucks because I am an active person but then again I no longer have to clean, do dishes or laundry or go to the grocery..lol
  • nope. I haven't lied to DH about what I can or cannot do.
