Christening favor suggestions needed

Is it still customary to give them out? If so, does anyone have practical ideas/suggestions?

Re: Christening favor suggestions needed

  • I didn't give favors. And most of the time, when I am at showers/weddings/etc with favors, I forgot to take one. Besides, we spent a good bit on food and drinks so I figured that was enough.

  • We didn't even do a reception or anything after DD's baptism! It was during Mass and after a big snow here - so hardly any family could make it out anyhow.
  • I dont think you need to do favors. I usually forget them at the wedding/shower etc.... anyways (unless they are chocolate then I eat them right awaySmile) We had a brunch afterwards and I think that was good enough.
  • For my godson's Christening my sister made chocolate chip cookies and stuck a sticker of the baby on it. Everyone took those!
  • My MIL are currently disagreeing on this subject she wants to give a tacky figurine, I refuse. DH & i decided to get L's pics doeni n his christening suit ahead of time and to make up little cards with his photo and sayign that in leiu of favours we are givigna donation to the NICU where Logan spent his first week. MIL hates it, I don't think favours are necessary at all but wanted to make a donation anyways so I think this is a good opportunity.
