has anyone heard this? my mom says that when we're taking her outside (she's 10 days old) in the cold we need to lightly cover her mouth and nose bc her lungs can't handle the cold. i haven't heard this at all, and seems like there would be a risk of suffocation.
and if i am supposed to cover her mouth...it's 50 degrees here today (unseasonably warm) so we were going to go for a walk. is that cold enough to do that?
Re: cover baby's face while out in cold?
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I live in upstate NY so our winters are pretty similar I would think. We're never outside for more than 5 minutes so I never cover his face. His head is always in a hat and hood though and the rest of his body has a coat and heavy blanket on him. Oh, and socks instead of mittens since they're thicker and stay on better.
I would say with 50 degrees make sure he's warm but you don't need to cover his face.

I use the Snugglemez to cover her when it is cold
