We just had our 4 mo. well visit and my pedi said not til 6 mos. She said if I felt he absolutely wasn't being satisfied by nursing to call her to discuss it. AAP is recommending 6 mos. too.
We started just a few days ago, from the pedi's recommendation. DS was showing obvious signs he was ready. We don't plan to start others like fruits/vegs until at least 5 months. It really is a personal preference, and by pedi recommendations.
We were going to wait until 6 months but DD was trying to steal our food and staring at us when we ate so I tried tonight and she loved it. She is 5 1/2 months.
It's a personal decision, and also depends on the child. Is DC holding his/her head up, showing interest in food? I started my daughter at 4 1/2 months. I plan to start my twins in a month (they are 4 months next week but 3 weeks premature).

this.
DD is definitely ready for foods. usually when they are able to sit upright mostly on their own and show interest in your food, they are about ready.

We started about a week after she turned 4 months. DD loves it! We even put her in the highchair today, as daycare said they are planning on using one when she starts there in 2 weeks, and she loved it. Not the best sitter so we propped her up, but she ate way better than in her bouncy seat.

We start solids in 7 days, when he turns 6 months! But we are skipping rice cereal, for the most part, and going straight to fruits and veggies and finger foods.

This is our plan, too.

this. she agreed with me that waiting until 6 months was best, but said we could start earlier if i wanted.
