1st Trimester

tylenol in first trimester

I have a killer headache and would rather not have it ruin my day. Is tylenol safe during the first trimester?

Re: tylenol in first trimester

  • It is on my dr's list of safe meds to take while pg. I actually just took some this morning. Feel better :)

  • Very safe. My doctor told me to not take anything else except Tylenol for pain/fevers.
  • They usually say yes to regular Tylenol though and not Extra Stength. You have a lower limit on what's safe (from 4000mg per day pre-PG to 2000mg while PG).

  • i actually called my obgyn yesterday at 7:30 in the am because i am terrbily sick and needed to see if there was anything i could take.

i am 6 weeks tomorrow and she told me i could either take 2 regular strength tylenol or 1 extra strength (one extra strength is only 1 1/2 times stronger than a regular).

    good luck and feel better!

  • Yes! I was in the hospital last week and this week and both times it was what they gave me for fevers & a headache. They just try and give as low a dose as possible. But out of all pain meds, Tylenol is supposed to be the safest for pregnancy (any trimester).
  • I've been taking it every day since for about two weeks. ?My head feels like its going to explode. ?:( ?Same when I was pg with DD. ?
