I just posted this on 2 under 2 as well, but figured I'd see if this applied to anyone on here.
Just curious if anyone else is getting their butts kicked with baby #2 (or more) like I am? My first pregnancy was pretty easy, but this baby is wiping me out. I'm trying to figure out if it's one factor, or a combination of a few. My very active son is 17 months old, I'm in my 3rd trimester, and I'm a teacher at the end of a busy semester. But this time around, I can't seem to get enough sleep, I'm sick all of the time (cold type sick) and just flat out emotional and exhausted.
Anyone else feeling like me?
Re: pregnant with #2?
This pregnancy I'm more uncomfortable. I'm chalking it up to 3 things...
But they do say that every pregnancy is different. Hard to say if it would have been different anyways or if it's related to my list.
I'm hurting more with this pregnancy. It's been strange - in a lot of ways, my first and second tri were easier (although my m/s lasted a LOT longer this time and is making another appearance), but this third tri has involved a lot more pain. And I look more pregnant than I did with #1 at this stage. The other thing is that this DD does not move nearly as much as my first, It's been different, but not necessarily more miserable...
Actually, I do agree with you Timeg, I do tend to forget that the beginning was much easier this time around, so I guess I should be happy for that. I actually had the ability to forget I was pregnant for a long time. Then quickly I hit a point where there was no way to forget, and it went downhill very fast from there.
Yes.
This pregnancy is kicking my butt. I tell DH it's because I'm older and he laughs at me (I'm only 23, lol)
But I seriously think it's because I have a 3 year old to keep up with.
I am also having a lot more pain this time around. My lower abdomen hurts when I walk to the point of tears sometimes. My hands and feet/ankles are also swelling a lot this time around when they didn't the last time. I'm not going to bed at 8PM and sleeping as much as I did with my first pregnancy but that is probably because I have a toddler to take care of.
All in all, I would definitely say that this pregnancy has been a lot harder than my first one. It only really started in the 3rd trimester though. 1st and 2nd trimesters were pretty comparable for me.
We're almost done ladies!
Yes!
This pregnancy has been much harder than with my first. Thankfully, nothing has gone wrong and there have been no complications (knock on wood). But, at the same time, all my "symptoms" have been worse. My morning sickness was stronger and lasted longer, I got really bad headaches that I did not get the first time around, all the aches and pains seem worse, etc. I am more emotional too. And, I've been having Braxton Hicks since the 2nd tri and they are getting worse the closer I get. I did not get them with Jaxson until the last month or so.
I think there are several factors - just like those you mentioned. The first time round, I could kick up my feet when I got home from work. Now, I don't get to rest until after Jaxson has had dinner, a bath, some playtime and in bed. There is just a lot more going on when you already have one. My mom brought up a good point as well. She said the novelty of it all is not as strong the second time around. With Jaxson, I took every uncomfortable side effect as a reminder of the amazing thing that was going on and now, I do the same to a degree, but not nearly as much as before.
I am just ready for this next one to be here!!!
I could have posted this, except that I'm chasing a 2 year old around
I too am a teacher, it is the end of the semester, I'm grading finals and finishing up the term. I'm totally exhausted all the time, and occasionally in the evenings have to take cat naps, but it never seems like enough. I'm much more emotional and on top of it half the time I'm sick to my stomach which let me tell you, nothing is more fun than being 38+ weeks and puking at 4 in the morning.
I just hope the second child isn't like the second pregnancy. My first one was so easy and I have such a happy little lark most of the time.
