Hello Shamrock Sweeties!! This is a check-in for moms with a due date in the month of March 2010. If you would like to be added, please post your bump name, real name, age and EDD.
Also, if you need anything changed, please post your EDD along with your new info so that it's easier to find your name on the list (it is hard to find some of you to update!).
Check-ins will be every Monday, Wednesday and Friday by 8am CST. Feel free to check-in any time that day. Give us a general update on your progress and anything else you want to add! We will have a question of the day as well. There will also be a link to the check-in posted sometime after 4pm CST on M, W, and F.
***Be sure to update your baby?s sex when you have your big u/s. If you?re not finding out, make sure you post that you are one team green so I can update that as well.
***Anyone who hasn?t updated the sex of their baby by the time we all move to the 3rd trimester board (once everyone is past 27 weeks) will be deleted from the list since it?s really long and some people don?t check in anymore. Sorry!
***Starting on Monday 12/7 the check-in will be posted on both the 2nd and 3rd trimester boards until all members have crossed over to the 3rd trimester! March is getting closer!!!

I'm just hanging in there. Did my 1 hr glucose yesterday so just waiting for results (could be up to a week w/ my dr's office). Got a recommendation to work from home after New Years so hopefully my work will approve it. Otherwise just waiting for my next growth scan on Monday.
QOTD: No, I will not be banking the babies cord blood for various reasons. I have seen posts with tons of info that basically make it seem not worth it. In addition, hospitals usually won't bank it for multiples so it doesn't matter for me anyways

I have an appointment today for regular check up and to take a growth u/s. I've been feeling cramps in my pelvic region yesterday and today, so I'm glad to be seeing the Dr. today.
QOTD: I have looked into it and I see its possible benefits, but it's too pricey for our budget. So unless we come into some riches in the next 2 months, we will not be banking our baby's cord blood.

I understand it is expensive but if she was to get any diseases that it could cure then it is worth the expense to me. Just my opinion. I am lucky that I am able to bank it. I also do believe it is worth all the hype.
I also watched the Dr. Oz Show that was all about pregnant women and even if you aren't able to afford it, you can donate it and it may save someone else. At no expense to you. I know that is available in the U.S. not sure about Canada though.

We aren't going to bank cord blood. I don't think its a necessity. And it's waaaaaay too expensive.

We're definitely talking about this topic. It's a lot of money but I can't imagine how much I would regret it if we didn't do it and LO turned out to have a condition that would have benefited it. Still haven't made a final decision though so I'll be reading everyone else's responses.

We would love to be able to do it - but we can't afford it at this time. When we asked the nurse about it at our last appointment (Dr was covering for another Dr that was sick to deliver LO's) - she stated that if we had extra money to invest then we could. However she would rather start a college fund or something that her child would use since it is so expensive. The extra reassurance would be nice but the chances of using it are slim also.

We are not banking the babys cord blood. Too costly for us.
We will not be doing it because of the cost. But I don't know a lot about it, so I would say it is not a bad thing to do.

We will not be banking, for the same reasons as many other PP. We just cannot afford it. But we are looking in to donating. It's unfortunate because cancer runs in my dad's family, but we do not have the money right now.

My glucose test is this afternoon, but first I have to make it through work and luckly no meetings.
Not planning on banking cord blood. We havn't even considered it. If I don't research it and bring it up, DH won't know the difference.
We are not. I would donate it if I could, but my hospital isn't one where that is an option.

I've looked into it, but it is really really expensive. I'm not thinking about donating it, but I don't know where to and if there is a cost involved. I don't know about the hype. If something ever happened to my baby I would make sure everything that could be done would be done. On the other hand I think that these companies are playing on the heart strings on new parents.
Hello all... hope everyone is having a good week thus far. I seem to have passed my 1hr glucose test as I never heard from my OB's office (no news is good news in his opinion). Also, 3rd tri tiredness is starting to set in (right on time, if not a little early). It just doesn't take much to exhaust me anymore. Not to mention the fact that I'm not sleeping as well because I can't get comfy.

I have thought long and hard about this one. At this point, we just can't afford it. I'd like to donate it, but there are so many hoops to jump through and that's the last thing I want to worry about after giving birth.

As for cord banking i really want to do it.
And i think it is worth the hype. Only problem at the moment is money so yea. But most likely i will be banking it.
Hi All! I know I haven't checked in for a while but 2nd tri was very busy for me. Now that I am in 3rd tri the rest of my life has slowed down and hopefully I can participate a bit more.
I wanted to let everyone know that I am on Team Pink. We will be naming our little girl Soledad Emelia.
As for the QOTD we will not be doing cord blood banking because it is very costly. We looked in to it but decided it is just not worth it to us. Hopefully we won't later regret that decision.
