How much time (if any) did your DH take off after your LO was born?
I started having contractions on a Thursday morning. DH took the day off and the next day, DS was born. He was off of work for about 10 days. He works for his dad and he is thinking about asking for 2 weeks off this time. I hope he does.
Re: DH & Paternity leave
2.5 weeks. i had her on a thursday and he went back to work on a monday.
i've asked him if he'll take more time off for the next, but his current position is more important than where he was last time. either he or his boss *has* to be there, so i don't think they'll approve more.
Only 2 days. Next time I really, really want him to take at least 1 week..except he only has 2 weeks available AND he can only take time off certain times during the month, not just whenever he wants
Sigh.
ETA: correct grammar!
7 weeks.
None. He went back to work the day after we got home from the hospital.
1 week
DD was breech, so he had a planned "vacation" the week after my scheduled C, but my water broke 2 weeks early. Technically, he worked one day while I was in the hospital, but then was off 3 days after we came home.

Life is good!
Had DD on Tuesday, he took off until the following Wednesday (worked a half day), then took off every Friday for the rest of the summer (I'm a teacher so I didn't go back for 5 months).
This time, I've asked him to take off a couple of weeks since we will have a toddler and a newborn and then still do the every Friday off thing.
Three weeks (two unpaid), worked a week, and then took two weeks of vacation for Christmas.
It was fantastic.
DD #1 passed away in January 2011 at 14 days old due to congenital heart disease
DD#2 lost in January 2012 at 23 weeks due to anhydramnios caused by a placental abruption

DH's company gives fathers a week off after the birth. DH took that, and went back to work partway through the following week, if I remember correctly.
He will probably do something similar this time, depending on how well the transition is going. He has tons of vacation time saved up, so he could easily take several weeks off if he wanted to. But unless it's necessary, both of us would rather keep that time "in the bank". Plus, my mom will be here from OOT to help out with DD for maybe the first ten-ish days, and I'd rather have him take time off later if I need his help.
DD1, 1/5/2008 ~~~ DD2, 3/17/2010
DH gets no paternity leave. Any time he takes off will be either unpaid or using sick/vacation time.
I had DS on a Tuesday and he went back to work the next Monday. His work called him NON stop when I was in the hospital being induced and even had the nerve to call at 5AM the day I delievered DS and 7AM the day after. It drove me bonkers.
DH doesn't really have any set time for paternity leave but he asked for a few extra days and his boss said yes. DD was born on a Saturday and DH took most of the following week off.
Also, we were able to divide my parental leave between the two of us. So when I went back to work at 10 months, DH was able to take my last two months off to be with DD. It's a Canadian thing.
With DS1, DH took 7 work days off (thurs/fri when DS was born and then the full week after). He was 3 weeks into a new job and we were so lucky his company let him do that.
With DS2, he actually did paid family leave through the state so he gets 6 total weeks. So he took 3 weeks when DS2 was born (one of those was with vacation time, plus 2 weeks paid by state). After Christmas he is taking 2 more weeks and then 3 weeks in May. All of those count towards state disability ("family bonding").
