2nd Trimester

DH really upset that he can't feel LO kick

My husband keeps trying to feel our daughter kick, but every time she does, he says he can't feel her.  He's really bummed about it, and I wish he could feel her.  Anyone else at 23 weeks, and can't feel kicking outside yet??

  • I can't and it is frustrating because DH wants to feel it already.

  • I'm at 21 weeks and still can't feel inside kicking yet! Crying Darn anterior placenta!
  • I can't feel LO from the outside yet either (just a few days behind you).  I know my DH gets frustrated sometimes too.  I know he wants in on the action.  Hopefully by Christmas LO will give daddy that gift.

  • Feeling baby kick at this point is really tricky, because it's not so much that you can't feel the baby from the outside, it's that your DH has to be right there and able and willing to get his hand on your belly in time to feel before movement stops.

Our son is a tease, so DH really only felt him once at 18 weeks.  Then maybe once again at 24 weeks or so.  THEN the baby got bigger, space became crowded, and almost every movement I feel on the inside, he can feel from the outside.

So, what I guess I'm saying is, try to encourage DH.  It won't be long before he'll be able to feel her!  She is going to get much, much stronger very soon!

  • DH just felt him kick a week ago... I was 23w3d... I've felt LO kick since 18w1d

  • I just started feeling it from out outside 1-1.5 weeks ago.  I've tried to get H to feel it but every time he tries she's done moving.

    It'll happen.

Yea, same here...he thought he felt one a few weeks ago, but now he's doubting it because she's bigger with harder kicks now and he can't feel them at all.  He just looked to sad last night... :(

I feel them most while sitting at my computer desk for long periods, but besides that, I can't feel them much.  I bet soon enough, we'll be on the 3rd tri complaining about how painful the kicks are!!  :)

I hope that for the both of us!  I told my husband that come April she'll be kicking his a$$ all the time!  :)

My husband has been keeping his hand on my belly while we're watching TV, and she's kicking while his hand is there, he just can't feel it yet.  :(

Thanks for your words, it's nice to get info from a 3rd tri momma!  I'll keep encouraging him to try, and hopefully he'll get kicked soon.  :)

I've been feeling her since about the same time.  DH thought he felt her, but he's doubting it now since she's much stronger & he can't feel it when I tell him she's kicking.  :(  I'll be 23 weeks tomorrow, so hopefully within the next week or 2 he'll feel her.  Thanks!

That makes me feel better.  I keep reading posts about husbands feeling kicks much earlier, so I was a bit worried.  I'm going to encourage him to keep trying...I just get so sad to see his disappointment.  Hopefully it will happen within a week or 2.  I hope your husband feels your daughter soon too!
