OMG. I'm dying here.

I quit pumping a month or so ago.  I wasn't getting enough and it was too big of a hassle with my job, so I've been nursing at home and doing formula while he's at daycare 2x/week and it's been working fine.

But today.  OMG.  My boobs feel like they're going to EXPLODE.  What the hell?!  He ate this morning before I took him to daycare, so I don't get the difference.

Is there anything -- short of hand expressing, which I cannot bring myself to do -- I can do for relief?

  • Why don't you want to hand express?  I'd just go to the bathroom, grab a load of paper towels, and squeeze some out into those.  It probably won't take much to give you some relief.

Or find something to bind those puppies!

    ditto.

I did that in the shower when I had to stop BFing DS. Do you not want to because you're "wasting" milk? or another reason?

I'm just really weird about my boobs.  I just can't bring myself to manhandle the girls.  The one hurts so bad I don't know how I'd even go about it.

  • Like J. said, just get a bunch of paper towels, and put it over your nipple to catch anything that comes out. Then just press your boobs. I always started kinda at the top and just pushed in a downward type motion...

it's totally worth the relief! Good luck

  • You mean you never even had to hand express any when your milk first came in?  LUCKY!  Those first couple weeks always sucked for me because the engorgement was so painful and my babies could never latch on without me hand expressing some first.
