Stuck in the house - day 2! Any ideas for me?

We're stuck in the house for the 2nd full day today (no car!). And to make it worse it's supposed to be cold and rainy again today so we can't even walk to the coffee shop. I'm already going a little nuts. We did just about every fun thing I could think of yesterday. We're more of "on the go" type people. Always headed to the library, Children's museum, or just errands.

Anyone have a fun activity we could do indoors today???

  • This was us last week - our town got flooded and we were stuck at home for three days! We're always out doing stuff too, so I was going a  little crazy. Suffice to say we watched a little more "Sesame Street" than usual :)

Coloring, blocks, books, baking (I made cookies and cupcakes, and let Michael play w/ mixing bowls and spoons on the floor).

  • Could you make some dough to play with? It would be fun to have DC help you make it then play with it.

We run round and round our couches and up and down the stairs a lot.

Does your DC like to clean? Nicholas lurves to vaccum so we do that 2 - 3 times a day. He helps me mop and sweep the floors and if I give him a rag or paper towels he'll help me wipe down surfaces or the kitchen floor.

Do you have a dry erase board or chalk board or big piece of butcher paper you could color on?

    Finger paint with pudding.

Bath time with a bunch of bubbles or a single drop of food coloring to change the color of the water.

Make rattles out of old canisters and rice or dry beans and shake shake shake. Also water, soap, and food coloring to an empty water bottle and shake shake shake.

Play in a big pile of clean towels.

Stack stuff up and knock it all down.

    Pots and pans symphony.

  • Build a Fort with your kitchen table, my 16mth old has a blast when we do this.

Bake cookies.....and let them sit on the counter and watch, stir the mix and of course, lick the spoon.

Go outside with rain boots on and splash in the puddles

Just let them do their own thing, don't be so worried about entertaining him/her. Let them just sit on the floor and play.
