Poor Luke has been fighting off a cold for a few weeks - colds just totally hang on in this house...Anyway, he doesn't cough much during the day but at night he'll have 10-15min coughing spells. He doesn't really wake up (although he often wakes his brother) but it just sounds horrible and somewhat painful.
What have you done to help w/ a cough? I WISH they hadn't stopped selling children's cough medicine --- I really want to give him some relief.
Re: What to do about LO's nighttime coughing spells?
Humidifier
Those nightlight things that have the menthol insert things
When he's super congested and is coughing from that, our pedi approved Benadryl to help. It works wonders.
ETA: We also use the baby Vicks on his chest.
We did the honey & lemon juice thing a couple of weeks ago. It seemed to help a little. I had to put it in a syringe just like regular medicine.
The pedi also approved delsym for coughs at the 1y appt. They also suggested children's claritin or benadryl to help with nasal drainage that might be causing the cough.
We also have a humidifier going in there.
None of it helps 100%, but he's doing better than he has been.
LOVE the gnome!!!
we've done the humidifer and the vicks rub but I'm calling the Pedi on Monday to see what else we can give him.
thx!
