I was waiting til 2, then heard it was better to give it to them earlier than later. So, at his 15 month check up, we asked. Our pedi said it was ok to do at 1 rather than 2, and since he wasn't gaining weight we tried it that night as a good source of fat. He loves it.
We were given the ok at 1 year. His Dr. actually told us that they're finding that withholding certain foods until infants are older can actually increase allergies.
Re: Peanut Butter
This is why we haven't really been strict about a little taste hear or there...well, that and no family history of peanut allergies.
Just remember it can take a few exposures to show a reaction, just keep an eye on him & have Benedryl around just in case.
Charlie's never had it. He tested + at 13 months before we had even tried to give it to him, so I'm not help there!
