Has anyone done the keratin treatment for curly/frizzy hair? I want to get it done, and the stylist said it's "only keratin" and is safe during pregnancy, but I have my doubts...

Well I know you can't believe everything on the internet but a quick google search didn't show anything negative. I'd probably do it if I was certain that keratin was the ONLY ingredient...which I find hard to believe.
I just did an exhaustive google search... for every 99 "it's safe" sites, I found one "it's not safe". For me, just a single "it's not safe" is enough to not do it.

I did it before I got pregnant. It is completely chemical free so I'd feel totally fine doing it while pregnant and its GREAT! saved me hours of flat ironing!

THIS is exactly why I want to do it! I was in TEARS last night cuz I was dreading having to iron my hair in the morning!
My stylist charges $300, but I heard there's a beauty school that'll do it for half price... do you think this is something to be trusted to a beauty school student?

I had the Brazilian straightening (keratin) done before my honeymoon - over 2 years ago. Although I was told it was "chemical-free", it was more like less chemicals than the older japanese straightener. Mine contained fermaldihyde (sp I'm sure wrong) and I think they almost all did back then. The fumes were TERRIBLE when she was using the straightener on it and I refused to get it done again because of that reason. I'd check with the salon, because I'm sure things have changed but I also know that there are lots of different formulas, so check with them specifically.
On a positive note for me, it completely changed my hair texture. I was told in a few months it'd be back to normal. 2 and a half years later and it is still way straighter than it was before. I do still have to use a straightening iron however - and I did even right when it was done. But the time was cut in more than half!
