3rd Trimester

* * SLEEPING * *... How are you all doing?

I'm miserable with sleeping.  Crying

It's time to sleep on my left side now according to my doc but the left side is sciatic driven all the way down to my feet.CryingSad

Baby loves to lounge on my right side so when he comes over to the opposite side, it reeeeally hurts! No

Sleeping on my right side and I have immense pain and pressure on my right shoulder blade...it hurts to breathe and I have NO IDEA what that's about but it's been that way.Huh?

I've been sleeping on my back all this time but now, I'm not able to breathe very well.

soooo...I guess it's time to sleep upright in the rocking chair.Sleep

Just wondering how many of you are with sleep these days.

God Bless our sweet baby James. Our son, born 11/22/09. Unplanned, Emergency C-section image

  • Sleeping has been hit or miss for me. I can't imagine gettting bigger and more uncomfortable. I have empathy for you girls! My main problem is my hips. They hurt so bad. Last night I took a benadryl just to sleep through the pain!

  • I am sorry but what is sleep?  haha well I don't do much of that anymore.  I also have to be up by 4am for work so I am soooo looking forward to starting maternity leave on the 25th.

  • Try to sleep propped up on a few pillows.

  • I definitely wake up with sore hips/back in the morning, but it usually goes away after an hour or two. The only way I can sleep now is rotating left side, then right side. One pillow stuffed under my belly to hold it up, one between my knees, and a larger one under my head than I used to use. Its all very high maintenance, but if it helps me sleep through the night, who cares!
  • My hips and pelvis hurt so bad to lay down and get up from laying down. I sleep on my side with a pillow between my knees which helps. I am sleeping but the quality is not good. I told DH we might be in the market for a recliner.
  • My sleep SUCKS! I can't get to sleep on either side at all, and I know I shouldn't be on my back. It's so weird, since I never slept on my back before being pregnant.

  • have you talked to your doctor about this? he/she might be able to help you find a better way to sleep. I mostly roll from right to left. And my ob said that's fine as long as I don't stay on my for too long. But even with this I still end up taking naps during the day because at night my LO is very active so I don't get to sleep much.

  • I still manage to make it onto my belly.. Otherwise I wake up on my back. Its pretty random how you'll find me in the morning.

  • I almost feel guilty admitting this but I sleep like a champ. Especially as I've moved into third trimester, I swear I'm getting the best sleep of my life. The most discomfort I feel is my lower hip sometimes aches a little and I have to roll over. And I do have to get up to pee once or twice. But in between I sleep like the dead and it feels awesome.
  • I slept really good like 3 days out of this week and I'm back to misery the last few nights! I don't know why I slept so good for those days but they were nice while they lasted! My Dr is bugging me about sleeping on my left side because I had a small amount of protein in my urine ans he said sleeping on my left side will help! So I've actually gotten used to it but I really miss sleeping on my tummy! Sleeping on my back is also hard on my breathing!

  • I WAS having a lot of hip pain and kept waking up and unable to fall back asleep after 5 am.

I took some of the ladies advice on here and got a 3" memory foam twin size matress pad for our bed. (It was around $130 with a BBB 20% coupon) I have slept great for the last three nights and am crossing my fingers that the matress will help me for the next 6 weeks. Worth every penny.

  • I totally feel your pain. On top of that, I feel like I'm squishing my baby because when I turn over, I can feel him kicking way down on the side I'm laying on. I have hip and sciatic pain and it's almost impossible to sleep. The only way I can sleep without pain is to sleep upright on our couch. No fun!
  • At my last U/S the tech asked if I'd started sleeping in a chair yet.  I wake so many times to pee, and I'm constantly looking at the clock when I go back to bed hoping that it's almost time to get up.  I think I might try to sleep on the couch tomorrow night, I slept there pretty good 1 day last week (or the week before).  I try to enjoy my pg, I know it's something I'll probably never experience again, I'm not ready for these babies to be here, but I'd love to take this belly off every now and then.  I had it so good when I was pg with DS, I think this pg is payback for how comfortable I was.
  • I can't sleep on my right side because I'm still having this annoying constant pain from my gallbladder surgery. Lying on my left side is comfortable until my hip falls asleep and starts to ache- which is always does without fail. And no matter which side I lie on my back aches.

So, I've decided that from now on I'm sleeping downstairs in the recliner.
