3rd Trimester

When are you/did you wash LO's clothes?

I had a shower on Sunday. I kind of want to wash the clothes we got for him. Do I separate by colors or wash everything together in cold water? Am I washing them too early?

  • i startd washing with DD right away.  i just put darks and lights together to wash them.  the sooner the better because you won't have time and wont' want to wash clothes once your LO gets here.  it was perfect because we had everything washed and ready.

  • I washed mine last week - I separated all the colours and washed everything in cold water (I normally do anyway) and then dried it all on low.
  • I washed mine right after my shower so I could put them all away.

  • I'll probably wash mine about 4 weeks before my due date. I always separated by colors but washed in cold. Except blankets, burp rags and sheets...those always got washed in hot or warm (depending on the colors).
  • Yeah I only seperate clothes based on if their DH's work clothes or not. If they are then they get cold and gentle, if not, then all thrown together and cold on normal cycle. With LO's clothes I'll probably put everything but the whites together, on cold. And probably right after we get a dresser!
  • My showers were 2 wks ago, and I just washed the clothes/blankets/towels/burp rags yesterday. I separated lights/whites from coloreds and washed all in cold water/dried on gentle.

  • We just did it this weekend- I only washed her 0-3 and 3-6 month stuff. I did two loads- one light, one with darker colors that I was worried might bleed (bright pinks and such!).

    Ack!

Lol, I am SO anal about my laundry. My entire family makes fun of me. I seperate jeans, darks, lights, whites, pinks/reds, towels, sheets, and DH's work clothes.

Lights get washed in warm. Towels, whites, sheets and work clothes in hot. Everything else in cold.

It takes me a week to get enough together for a full load, but I can't mix the loads. I think they may have a name for my condition.... lol

  • I did mine a month ago.  I just washed them all together in cold water.
  • I just finished washing all his clothes up to 3 months size. I did separate the lighter colored clothes from the darker ones because I didn't want to take the chance of ruining them. I don't think it's too early either, the sooner you do it the less you will have to do later.
  • Ha, I just posted about this! I just started TODAY. Little bit of a procrastinator.

I'm with you!  I haven't started yet.  Was planning on doing it next week.

  • Mine was done a few weeks ago.  I left the tags on all the newborn sizes since my first DD was almost 8 pounds and was too big for them.  This one is also measuring large. i'd rather exchange them for 9 or 12 months.

  • I just did mine today and got 1/2 put away. Then again, I am high-risk and was already in the hospital on my way to delivering DS1 at this time in my pregnancy with him, so I am paranoid. Want everything to be done so I don't have to rely on anyone else to do it for me, like I did with DS1.
  • Since I'm still working fulltime and am in the process of unpacking from moving into a new house, my mom is helping out with the baby clothes. She's washing all my NB/0-3 clothing so I don't have to worry with it. I don't think you're washing them too early. Never hurts to be prepared :)
