Me too. It's not like your doc tells you that just to see how long you can last - there is a medical reason for it. And seriously, what's worse: waiting 6 weeks to do the deed or potentially getting a serious infection? I know the chances are slim but it's just not worth the risk, IMO.
And then they are shocked if they get a BFP or an infection. Sigh. I waited like 8 weeks and it was still painful. I just cant see wanting to do it before then.

I had a c/s and had sex 3 weeks pp. I felt ready and didn't need my doctor to tell me that. I was also shocked when I went to my 6 week pp visit, she didn't even mention sex to me...either way. So I'm glad I didn't wait.
I think doctor's rely on release papers to do their talking anymore. I was not told my doctor to wait to have sex, I learned about it by reading.
Infections happen, I know...I got one (not from sex, from my placenta). I had to have an IV of antibiotics and take oral antibiotics too. Having sex early risks your chances for infertility. I think people think, "oh I feel fine." Umm...you have an open wound in your uterus from where your placenta was...

Exactly. It has nothing to do with feeling fine. Unless you can feel that wound healing.
"You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast..."
Oh I remember that thread - wish I had the linky - I got the clear after 5 weeks, but still waited.
When we did the C-section my Dr was telling us that we still had to wait 6 weeks before sex, and the anesthesiologist told us a story about a man who not two minutes after his baby was born asked the doctor how long until they could have sex again.... he said the doctor didn't even miss a beat and replied "a gentleman usually waits until the placenta is delivered" - I LMAO

I thought so - it really lightened the mood in the delivery room - I was really nervous and that helped!
I saw a midwife for prenatal care and delivered at a birthing center. I saw her at 2 weeks PP and her MEDICAL ADVICE was that we could have sex WHENEVER I felt up to it. That was her professional medical advice after having been in the field for over 25 years.
We had sex 3 weeks PP and it was great. A little painful, but great overall.
It is not written in stone that you have to wait 6 weeks PP. I'm not sure why it irks you - whether or not people have sex before 6 weeks doesn't harm you in any way so whhy let it get your panties in a bunch?

I'm not sure about the OP, but it bugs me because people used to ask the question all the time ("When is it ok to have sex?") when it's something you should ask your doc, not a bunch of random strangers on the internet who probably have no medical knowledge. Or because the people who were asking the question were usually looking for people to tell them that it was ok, rather than listening to their doc's advice.

You can't feel your wound healing but you know if the bleeding has stopped. And according to my dr, your wound is likely healed if you aren't bleeding.
Re: All these women on 0-3 having sex before 6 weeks...
I agree with all of this.
I remember that.

Me either. Sex was the furthest thing from my mind that first month or two!
i never saw this... does any one have the link to this!!

i had a hard time waiting to go swimming, though... it's hot here! the sex thing was a non-issue.

Why is everyone RANDOMLY YELLING all of a sudden?
