Last night at work I was sitting and all of a sudden I felt terrible pounding in my chest. I was not previously anxious or doing anything stressful. Luckily I work in an operating room so I hooked myself up to a monitor. My heartrate was 240. I was rushed to the ER and my heartrate converted after about ten minutes. I have no heart history and everything checked out at the ER. I really felt like I was going to die, it was the worst feeling ever. The doctor said it was either SVT or AFIB, both of which are cardiac arrythmias. He said my oncall OB said it is not uncommon in pregnancy and this might be my only episode ever. Has anyone else experienced this? I am so afraid it will happen again when I am at home alone with my two year old.
Re: Heart Arrythmia
I could be MVP...I have that..my ob and my MIL (she was heart specialists nurse for years) said alot of women will develop MVP when they are pregnant..the extra blood causes the heart to act a little weird sometimes..If you havent' had any symptoms before you were pregnant and there isn't a whole lot else going on i would mention it during your next visit, but not freak out too much..I had it before I got pregnant and it just got worse when i was pregnant..with dd they put me on medication, but this one everything is okay..
