Stroller confusion

I've read the Baby Bargains book, which advises against a travel system (infant car seat + regular size stroller) because the strollers are typically heavy & difficult to fold up.

I have no idea what to register for though.  We've looked at seats, strollers & systems @ BRU & Target, and I can't decide which one might be better than the next.

Any advice???

Re: Stroller confusion

  • I've used the Graco metrolite as part of a travel system many many times and I've never had a problem with it.  I never found it heavy or difficult to fold/unfold.  Also, it offers storage space for all the stuff you need with a baby. I'm also a tiny person (5' tall, very petite)

You could also try this.  I'm sure they make it for many different brands of car seats.

  • My Peg Perego Aria stroller is a whopping 8 lbs.  Not exactly heavy or difficult to fold up.  My advice is to go to BRU and actually try out the strollers--don't just look at them, make the salesperson open/close them, etc.  If you are at the mall, walking around town, etc. and see someone with a stroller you like, ask them about it...they'll probably be honest.

There is always the Snap N Go, but the advantage of a system is that the parts "go" together.  There is always the chance with the SNG that your carseat won't exactly fit right, or you'll need a strap to keep it on, etc.  If you are the type of person who likes things to work right every single time (like I am) then a system might just be the right thing for you.

  • I was pretty anti-travel system but after trying the Chicco Cortina/KeyFit one we really liked it. I'd go test them out at the store and see which one you like best honestly.
  • I had a graco travel system for DD#1 and I loved it. I still use the stroller!!I don't think its heavy or difficult, and I love having the basket to throw all our crap in and the cup holders...I think its great. If a friend has one, or a co worker see if you like it, or go in teh store and try out the floor models. Don't make a a decision based on a book. Thats the authors opinion, not the general populations.
  • We got the snap n' go.  Then when he stopped using the infant carseat we had a light baby trend stroller that we use for our stroller.

  • We got the snap n' go and have used it just a few times so far and really like it.  It's light and easy to use.  We also got a lightweight stroller to use when she's not in her infant seat or outgrows it.  I can't remember the brand off the top of my head though.

  • I registered for a Graco travel system, and I also bought a snap n-go at a second hand place so that I can use that if I want something lighter weight. I also bought a used jogging stroller - so I have a few options. I like the travel systems, even if that isn't the stroller I use for everything I think it will be nice to have one like that.
  • Thanks, everyone!
