Anyone fly with a Radian car seat?

We are considering buying this for DS - we have a lot of flying travel over the next several months and he is in the 95th% for weight and 65th% (and climbing fast) in height. So his infant seat, while perfect in size for the seats on a plane, won't last much longer (and we do believe in him being in a seat on a plane). 

Any general or pros/cons thoughts about how this seat works with every day life as well as flying?

    Its a fantastic seat for everyday use. It's a real PITA to use RF on an airplane because there is so little space between the seat and the seat in front (unless you get the bulkhead seat, which you can request). Another downside for air travel is that it's heavy. But it's not hard to either use the included strap to carry over your shoulder, or to attach to one of your rolling bags.

    My suggestion would be to buy the Radian for everyday use and get a cheaper, lighter seat for travel.

    That's what we have done for current travel (our every day infant car seat is very expensive and is too wide/heavy for flying). 

    I'm not having a lot of luck finding a convertible car seat that is cheap, light in weight, and as narrow as the radian (it is 17in wide).

    Any recs?

    Well, NONE are as narrow as the radian Wink  But even the wide seats *can* and do fit on an airplane. I've flown with my Britax Boulevard (which is huge) and it fit just fine. The Cosco Scenara is great for travel because it's cheap (around $60), light (about 10 lbs).

    You would be amazed which seats fit well on a plane. I flew with a Recaro Como and that thing is a beast. It fit very nicely on the plane, no issues at all. I did have to put up the arm rest, but that no big deal. The Radian is a very long seat and it installs more reclined than most convertibles making it take up even more space front to back. It is an excellent seat, but probably about the hardest to fit on a plane if you are still using it RF.

    I have it for DD and like it.  I have never used it rear facing.  It is heavy, but if you have a wheel thing for it, that doesn't much matter.  You can buy a thing to make it a backpack and that would probably be ok.  It does fold nicely for storage, which is nice if you sometimes need to take the seats out to have clients in your car or something like that.  They can use it for about 7 years (and really can because the height limits are hight), so no need to buy a second seat later.  I like the low profile and narrower width (the seat has plenty of width for a large child, just doesn't have those wide plastic "wings" some seats have.)

    I plan to buy another for my DS when he is older.   It is easy to install forward facing.
