Low Amniotic Fluid-Vent and Opnions, Please.

So I brought myself to the hospital yesterday after completing kick counts and not getting enough over a 2 hour period.  Turns out everything was OK except that I had low-normal amniotic fluid.  The fluid was not low enough for an induction but not ideal.  So now my doc is requiring that I have an ultrasound every other day to be sure the fluids do not continue to drop.  I am happy that my doc is being so thorough but it is taking a real toll on my work schedule.  I am a teacher and I returned to work in August so I feel especially terrible about taking all the extra time.  This week I have to take off early today, the entire day tomorrow, and I am sure some more time once I get the results from the test tonight and 2 other tests tomorrow. My school does not allow you to take anytime before the baby is born unless you have a doctor's note.  I am contemplating just asking my doc for a note so I do not have to keep requesting all this time off.  What would you do?

    Ask for a note.  I had low fluid with both of my previous pregnancies, and you definitely want to keep up on it.  You only have two weeks before your EDD.  Is it possible to go on maternity leave early?  If not, just ask your doctor for a note each time.

    Ask for the note--your baby's health is more important than work IMO--and stop feeling guilty! you are almost there!

    Mine had to get down to six before I was induced with DD.  My doctor was gone, so her partner made the decision.  With DS my doctor let it get down to 5.2, however, she did have me checked the following day and it was up to 7, so she scheduled an induction for the following week, keeping an eye on me via u/s and NST's.  DS came before his induction date though.

    I would get a note!  Being on your feet all day teaching and probably not drinking water from being busy isn't going to keep that fluid up!  I have been on bedrest for low fluid for 6 weeks now, and it sucks but its best for baby!  My fluid was a 2 at 31 weeks and now is back up to 8!  Try to take it easy, plus if your fluid stays low they might induce you at 39 weeks, so you really would only be taking off a few extra days!

    i had other issues but the dr wants to see me 2-3 times a weeks, these appointments with u/s take more than half a day. i got a dr's not and took off work early. that being said i am lucky to live in Canada where it does not affect my maternity leave and i get 60% of my salary when off on sick. there was no way to keep working and make it to my appointments. i tried for 2 weeks and only wound up working a few hours a day and since i live an hoour from work i was spending just as much time traveling as i was working
