Is he walking yet? Eli was not, so he really liked push toys at that point. He was also beginning to show interest in ride on toys too. And it didn't have to be fancy, ANYTHING he could push was great. As a matter of fact, he still loves pushing things around at 20 months. If it has wheels, he loves it.
Alex likes anything with wheels. He will push a car or truck all day long and make the noise to go along with it.
His second favorite thing is a ball...any kind. He loves to throw and roll them and will get so excited when he sees one and he will point and say BA! BA! Until you give it to him.
The next on his list of top toys is the stacking blocks. He will imitate me counting as I stack them and he can't wait for me to get to 10 so he can knock them down.
Simple is better IMO.
Liam also loves cars and trucks he can push around on the floor - he got lots of these for his 1st birthday and loves playing with all of them. A bubble mower would be great too. Also you can never go wrong with muzzles and board books.
ETA: while a muzzle might seem like a good idea sometimes, I meant puzzles LOL!!
