What are you looking forward to most about winter pregnancy?

I live in Wisconsin and our winters have been hideous lately and normally I end up getting stuck shoveling because I get home before my husband, but now that I'm pregnant, he will HAVE to do it!   That is what I'm looking forward to most, other than enjoying the pregnancy and all.  Betcha he invests in a snow blower this year!

Re: What are you looking forward to most about winter pregnancy?

  • I love winter...I always feel the best during winter (allergies and stuff), so since I can't take any allergy meds, I'm very much looking forward to winter.  Also, I always wanted to be pg during winter because I'm not a heat fan...can't imagine being pg during the dead heat of summer.

  • I like the idea of being pregnant at Thanksgiving and Christmas, when I see all my family. Plus I won't feel guilty about splurging a little on the yummy holiday food!

And we should find out the gender around Christmas so that will be perfect timing. I am very thankful I will not be big in the summer. It won't be too hot here by the time I am due and I don't think I could handle being big in the 100 degree heat!

  • That I won't still be pregnant when summer hits.  DD was born on the hottest day of the year and I thought everyday until her birth that I would melt into a puddle....I'm glad I don't have to do that again.
  • Not being 9 months pregnant in July and August.
  • I live in a nice well kept apartment so no worries about shoveling or hopefully ice to much. But I am looking forward to being pregnant during the holidays especially Christmas! I am gonna be about 27 weeks then so I will be showing but not miserable!

  • I'm from Wisconsin too!  I love the not-being-pg-in-summer-heat part.  And everyone else's posts above... the no shoveling, the holiday food, those are good too!

  • Having a cute little baby bump for Christmas.

Hopefully feeling warmer than usual since I'm always freezing.

And thankful that I don't have to live through a summer pregnant and dying from the heat!

  • I'm most looking forward to finding out the gender right around Christmas.  It just makes the whole thing feel even more like a blessing then we already do!

  • Same as everyone really: pregnancy during holidays-extra joyful and more to celebrate, The clothes are more conducive to pregnancy with the added support around teh belly etc without overheating the body and sweating all the time, ofcourse the heat issues although exercising in the pool would have been nice while pregnant-easier on the body during the final months.

  • potato soup and the holidays. Not to mention and totally selfish I'm glad these upper arms won't have to be seen like they would if I were preg in the summer.
  • I am glad my baby will be born in April - just when it is getting warm enough here in New England to take him/her out for some nice walks...hopefully which will work off the pounds I am likely to put on around Thanksgiving and Christmas!
  • I live in California so the winters are pretty mild. I am however looking forward to spending all those rainy days curled up on the couch nice and cozy instead of out in the heat when I have a big belly! I also can't wait to take a picture with a belly in front of the Christmas tree :)
  • Not being pregnant in the summer! I am so happy to be having a late winter/early spring baby. Ok, in Chicago it's still winter LOL. I was so miserable w/ the heat and my swelling w/ DD.

    1.  Wearing Uggs

    2.  Hot Cocoa with whipped cream by the fireplace

    3.  Seeing family and friends during holidays with baby bump

Whats not to love, I can't wait!

  • NOT being HUGE and HOT!!!

DS was born at the end of summer in SOUTH TEXAS heat and it was miserable the last month or so!  I am so happy that this babys EDD is in early may-it will still be pretty warm already by then but hopefully not in the 100s like with DS for 4 months!  lol

     THIS!

  • I'm in AZ, so I am also so happy miss the summer heat!!!  Aside from that, maternity clothes that don't show too much skin.  I already feel like a house, it will be be nice to hide the arms and legs for a while.
  • I totally agree with mistyblue182!  I also live in WI and HATE to shovel.  My husband got a snow blower last year...I bet he's happy now that he did ;-)  Oh yea, one more thing ladies....maternity leave in spring/summer!

I second this!! Especially since I live in Texas!!

  • Although I'm going to miss skiing, I'm really looking forward to UGGS, and hiding behind big comfy clothes! yay!
  • Having a baby bump for the holidays. It'll be fun to be around family and have them ooh and ahh at my growing little miracle.

  • I LOVE the idea of not being hugely pregnant in the summer.

And being in LA, our winters never really get cold-cold.  I look forward to being pregnant (and feeling great) during the holidays (all that yummy food), and wearing super soft, warm, fuzzy clothes and pajamas.

I feel the same about all the food!!!

Me too... I'm already dreaming of pies and Christmas cookies!

I do have some worries.  I walk 8 blocks to work, and I'm afraid of slipping and falling on ice.  I've fallen before, but this time around it's a much bigger deal.  I also have to find a nice maternity winter coat... and I don't feel like spending the money!  Ugh.  Oh well.  I'd rather be pregnant during the winter than be huge in July and August!

    Wearing my UGGS!

This for sure!  I love my Uggs.  I have brown but I think black one's will be on my Christmas list this year!  :)

  • Gosh I don't know since we don't really have winter here in San Diego.  Overall I am just looking forward to being prego although I am sadden that I just had to cancel our snowboarding trip in Japan :(  we are thinking of still heading to mammoth and cuddling by the fire for a few days over Christmas vacation.

I will be happy to have allot of cardigan options to cover myself up with though

  • I am looking forward to showing! :) Especially being around the families during the holidays.

  • We got a snow blower last year.  I thought about the no shoveling too!

  • Oh crap!  My Dh will want a snow blower too.  He was close to it last year with the insane amount of snow we got.

I just really like staying home when it's cold and building a fire to sleep by at 7pm.

  • That my baby won't be born until after cold/flu/RSV season. with my 2nd DD (born in Dec) we were quarenteened in our home unitl she was 12 weeks old due to her being high risk for RSV. That made for a VERY long winter. NEver want to go thru that again.
  • ditto summer maternity leave, which allows you to be outside more with a newborn.

But also, shopping for baby/maternity stuff in the midst of Black Friday and Christmas deals~I'm such a bargain shopper so I'm REALLY looking forward to finding good deals!

  • Being with family during the holidays.....I just feel like being pg around the holidays will be great because I don't see all my family a lot so they will have a chance to see my DH and I and be a part of the joy :-)

Oh and sweaters, not having to shovel snow and not being pg in the humid summer

  • Comfy winter clothes, an excuse not to feel obligated to ski every weekend, not having a newborn in the dead of winter and having to bundle them up and warm up the car in advance, finding out the gender around christmas, having maternity leave in the summer so that we can get out and be active, and perhaps being able to climb a mountain by the end of next summer if I can whip myself back in to high altitude climbing shape by then! I kind of feel like I hit the jackpot! :) *crossing fingers for sticky bean*
  • agreed on all of these. i am so hoping to be warmer then i usually am.
  • WOW. I thought I was the only one looking forward to being pregnant and getting to where my uggs!

    1. UGGS

    2. I love winter holidays and it will be much more special this year.

    3. The COLD WEATHER! I live in Houston so summer and pregnancy probably don't mix.

  • not being cold.  i get soooo cold in the winter, but when i was pg with my son (he was born in may, i'm due in april this time) i was so warm all the time the cold didn't bother me.  it was fabulous.
  • Looking forward to the cold (near DC), maybe some snow this year?  I hope!  I'm a teacher and they call off for the smallest amount of snow!  I am excited that I can wear comfy dresses/uggs and just hide in heavy winter clothes.  I am just looking forward to having our child in April and taking off April, May, and June!
