I personally HATE drinking out of plastic. I think everything tastes better in a glass. I found glass baby bottles at BRU and Target. I am also kind of paranoid about plastic and toxins. I never microwave in it. Any thoughts?
To be honest, I never even knew they had glass bottles!
What are you going to do, though, when the child can hold and throw the bottle on their own?
This is what I'm wondering. I have heard a lot of people rave about glass bottles, but IME with babies a lot of bottles are dropped... I must be missing something about the breakability factor.
I used the small 4 oz. glass Dr. Brown's with my DD. I got them because at the time, all the manufacturers were first starting to produce BPA free plastic bottles. I liked them a lot and will use them for this baby as well.
I chose to get the BPA free Dr. Brown's in the larger size (not the glass) for a couple reasons. One, they are heavy, and my DD wouldn't be able to hold them on her own for quite some time, and two, when she learned to throw things, I didn't want her throwing a glass bottle. The BPA free plastic worked great.
Now, I threw all the plastic ones away. They are cheap, so I thought it was better to just buy new ones for the next baby.

We were going to go with glass, but then we decided on the Dr. Brown's BPA free because I read a lot of people saying that they dropped them and they broke, wasting breastmilk.
Does anyone have personal experience with these silicone sleeves? Have you dropped them on hardwood or tile? I would love to hear if they have really worked that well for someone so I can convince DH to go with the glass.
We registered for the Dr. Brown's glass and also the Evenflo ones with the silicone covers. ?I think they will be fine as far as breakage...my mom and my aunt used them and never once had a bottle break on them. ?They are pretty heavy and thick. ?Not to say it is impossible for them to break, but it would have to really be launched for it to break with a silicone cover on it. ?We also registered for some of the new Prince Lionheart 100% silicone bottles because silicone is very safe. ?Not sure if we will like them, as they seem to get mixed reviews, but they seem like they could be a possible alternative to glass if you are at all leary of what the plastic bottles may contain.

We only registered for glass. I am totally with you on the taste of plastic and the concerns with toxins (even for bottles that are BPA free).
We are going to try the silicone sleeves for breakage concerns - although I have to admit, I am a little worried about how much protection they actually provide.

We are definatley using glass bottles, after the ta-tas of course!!!! They have silicone covers that protect the glass.
