I have 3 sessions of 20 minutes at work and I don't think that's enough.
I think I might be having supply issues and I'm using Fenugreek and mother's milk tea. I think that helps, but I'm also trying to nurse and pump as often as possible. When DD nurses she'll nurse between 40-50 minutes. From what I understand, to keep up a good supply you need to empty your breasts at each nursing/pumping session. I don't think 20 minutes per pumping session is working for me : (
Re: Pumpers: how long does it take you to pump?
can you extend just another 5 min? Lots of women seem to get that 2nd letdown at 25 minutes.
I never time myself, but I "empty" myself with a pump after about 10 minutes. I always let the pump continue to go for about 5 min after the last drop though. Then I hand express since they say pumps don't get out the entire amount like breastfeeding does. I probably do this for another 5 minutes a breast, really massaging it out.
I've been doing this about a week now and seeing that I've gotten up to about an extra 1/2 oz per pumping. It's not a second letdown, I've never gotton on of those, even when I tried to "power pump" for an hour straight, so who knows.
