If you shave your bikini area...

how the heck do you get a close shave?! I got a brazilian wax a few times last year but I just can't afford it anymore. So I'm stuck shaving again. My problem is I always have black stubbles left! Any clue how to avoid that?? We are going to the beach with my family this weekend and I would like to be able to wear my bikini without worrying about this!

  • I used to get waxes too, but they have been cut out of the budget.  When I shave I get terrible razor burn, so I have started shaving with an electric razor and I'm able to get a close shave with minor irritation.  And I shave dry, not in the shower.  I have also found that using baby powder when I shave helps b/c the razor doesn't drag against my skin.

  • Pull the skin in the opposite direction of the hair growth so it's taught and shave in the direction of the hair growth. I get so close that it feels like I have no hair, shaving this way keeps me from having bumps too.
  • Use a men's brand razor. Works much better!
  • Don't shave it at all until that morning, then shave it w/ shaving cream. Don't worry, I'm sure you notice it more than other ppl.

I agree.  Also, I read somewhere that putting deodorant on the area after you shave prevents the red bumps.  Never tried it but it couldn't hurt;)

I shave this way in the shower. It softens up the hair on me so it cuts better and I don't get irritated.

  • Noxema has these little bikini line shavers that can be thrown away, and I use those.
  • i shave with the hair and against it, I use Bikini Zone gel for razor bumps, but I can't really help with the stubble.
  • Have you ever tried using "Veet" it's like nair...but it comes with a rubber razor to "shave" the foam/hair off.

I used it for the first time a few weeks ago because I get terrible razor burn and it worked so well! I would def. try that if you can. It's a foam that you leave on for 3 minutes. I was honestly surprised at how well it worked.  If you go that route I would do it the morning that you leave or the night before and it will last you through the weekend!

The only other thing that works for me is using the Shick Intuition razor blades. (The one with the soap all around it)  Only other way it gets a close shave and no irritation.

Yep. I think men's razors are better for coarse hair.
