I had my Shower yesterday!!!. I have to admit i did not test after lunch or dinner yesterday . The food was not very GD friendly and i did the best i could. My fasting # was 90 this am . I am off to see the Endo and Nurse in a few hours so we will see how that goes.
Re: GD check in.....
Good luck at your appointment! My numbers have been great the past couple of weeks. I think we finally found the right NPH dose at bedtime (20 units).
I'm getting induced tomorrow - so I've been instructed to take half my insulin tonight, and my OB said to eat what I normally eat for breakfast (protein shake and yogurt). Looking forward to meeting my little man - and hopefully indulging in some sinful treats in the hospital. I've already got a short list for DH!
Sara
Good luck for the induction! Hope all goes smoothly.
I had a couple of high readings yesterday after being right on track all week. I think lunch was because I had a cup of natural applesauce as part of my snack and again as part of my lunch. I don't know if applesauce in general is a bad idea, or just two servins that close together.
Then last night we went to Boston Market and I "experimented" with having some potatoes and cornbread. Highest reading yet. Oops! At least I know not to do that again ...
Have a good day, all.
I had my shower on Saturday and didn't test afterwards either... I didn't eat terribly but I didn't have ANY protein all day which scared me.
At my last u/s (Thursday), I was only measuring a week ahead of schedule, yay! Baby is a healthy 5lbs, and continues to pass his twice-weekly BPP's.
On a sad note, morning sickness has returned with a vengence. I thought I survived this stage back in 1st Trimester, but just this past week I have come to throw up regularly every morning again.
Friday (last week) was my last day as an employed woman. I am officially retired now, and get to be a stay at home mom... now I just need the baby to make it a full time endeavor!
Morning Ladies! I feel liek garbage and my numbers are all over the place. I have been living on protein shakes because the thought of eating a full meal makes me want to puke. Hopefully this will pass fairly quickly. The doctor upped my meds and I am still have no luck.
Fastin numbers - 90-100
After Breakfast numbers - 130-160 (even after just a protein shake this morning I was 154!)
I don't know what else to do!!!!!! I am so frustrated! I am guessing at this Thursday's appointment, I will be on insulin - WAHHHH!
Morning Ladies. I am doing pretty well- this is only the end of my second week doing this and I still haven't fully gotten the hang of it. I tested 145 after lunch yesterday but looking back I realize that I had no where near enough protein. Otherwise my numbers have been ok. My ketones tested high yesterday too but this morning they were small. I have no idea what that means. Has anyone had varying ketone readings? I have an appointment with the Endo this Friday so hopefully that will help figure some stuff out.
Good luck with induction.
Congrats on reaching SAHM status.
Sorry that you aren't feeling well and that your numbers are all over- I hope things get worked out at Thursday's appointment. Isn't it frustrating to feel like you have no control??? At least this is a temporary condition (that's what I keep telling myself).
Hi all! I had my shower as well yesterday, and my amazing hostess made a menu that was entirely GD friendly!
My fasting was only 87, even though I had a ton of pasta salad.
I can't eat cornbread or mashed potatoes from Boston market either. When I asked my nutritionist she actually laughed at me. Of course this was after I experimented with it and failed miserably. Last night I went to Boston Market too and got a side of the creamed spinach and had a really low number... yay!

I'm still experimenting to find my comfort zone since my SO loves to eat out a lot (we figure it'll tone down after the baby) and it was too hot this weekend to really heat up the house for cooking. Steak fries @ Red Robin = fail. Dinner at our local hole in the wall (kinda like Denny's) with a grilled chicken breast, bacon, cheese, and parm. cheese on sourdough with watermelon & cottage cheese = fantastic #s.
Baking for a bake sale is totally outside of my comfort zone right now when one of my biggest cravings has been cookies. 9 dozen cookies in the house sent me into overdrive but given they were bite-size/nibble cookies, I was able to have one or two at a snack and not drive my #s over.
Oh, and we also found amazing dark chocolate at Costco this weekend that's sugar free! It was part of one of their road show vendors and it was made to be diabetic friendly.

Hi All,
I guess I am more or less new to this. This is my second week testing and so far it's been good. My numbers have been pretty stable. I've tried experimenting with sushi yesterday and that was a big fail
I guess I overestimated with carbs.
I have my OB appointment next Tuesday to see how my numbers are and then we'll go from there. Not srue what the next steps will be.
I cheated at my shower too.... And I didn't test after lunch or dinner
I had about 5 helpings of the sherbet punch, a cupcake with lotsa frosting, and at dinner I indulged in fresh-cut potato chips....LOTS of potato chips, LOL
Good Luck Sara (slacy)
I'm jealous....I wish they would induce me, my requirement for insulin has completly ended my #'s have been great and my NST/BPP check ups have been okay.
I was 2 cm dialated on Thursday, Friday I lost my mucus plug (had bloody show and all), Saturday and Sunday had major back labor....BUT no baby and my doctor said to call only of I have "real" contractions or my water breaks. She is wanting me to go 40+ weeks and I feel like I'm so done.
SORRY for the vent but the pain and discomfort are getting to me, I do know that its for the baby's best interest to keep on cooking!
