Hi Ladies,
I am working on the nursery and realized that our baby's room just has mini blinds and we live in NYC, so some light still gets in.
Are you all putting something on the windows so you can "black out" the nursery for sleep time?
2nd time mommies - is this a must?
Thanks!

Re: Blackout curtains/shades necessary?
We've never had them. DS #1 has been a great sleeper. We just have a sheer lace curtain over his window (super tall old farmhouse windows), and he's done just fine.

I would agree with some of the PPs--dont' make the nursery pitch black. You want the baby to be able to sleep in other conditions.
We have regular roman shades and it is fine.
We have taken our Dd to so many places and she can usually sleep anywhere in her pack n play.
Ditto. 1st time mommy here, but have worked in a lot of day cares which are pretty bright during naptimes. The kids who get accustomed to various sleeping conditions sleep much better than the kids who only sleep with the same conditions every day. I also noticed this with my nephew as well that when they switched homes he wasn't able to sleep during nap time any more because he wasn't used to sleeping with any amount of light coming into the room. They had a difficult time trying to help him readjust.
