QOTD: Now that the BIG U/S is around the corner for the early Feb Mommies...do you find yourself having a preference for gender?  And for those that are Team Green, do you have any preference at this point?  I do realize we all just want healthy babies and will love them 100% regardless, but I do know sometimes we picture ourselves with a baby of a certain gender.  Discuss!

I honestly felt like I did NOT care either way what I had this time bc I got my girl the first time.  When I was pregnant with DD, I wanted a girl so bad!  This time, I felt like I would be happy either way.  However, about a week before our gender determination U/S, I secretly started hoping it was a boy, just so I could experience both, since this is our last baby.  But inside, I KNEW it was a girl and I was totally not shocked at all when we found out.  I know we were meant to have 2 girls, this is how I always pictured my family to be.  So I am thrilled and can't wait to meet my baby girl!

Re: February Love Bugs ? Thursday Check-in

  • We found out and will confirm at the big u/s that it is a boy. But we have wanted a boy for a long time and before out NT scan I assumed it was boy. We are beyond thrilled. See this is the only baby in our family that can carry on our last name.. so needless to say we were relieved. But first and foremost we wanted a healthy baby.

  • I'm team green and have no preference - it's our first so ideally I'd ultimately like one of each. My big u/s is on Tuesday!!!
  • My big u/s is 2 weeks from today.  I still think I don't care either way but I've had a feeling I'm having a boy this whole time.  The more and more I've thought I've been having a boy, I realize that's what I want so we'll see what the results are on Sept. 10th!

Also, how do I get the Feb. lovebugs badge?  thanks.

  • At first I was dying for a girl. I grew up with a sister and always pictured, like you did, having two girls. So, I started telling myself it was a boy, just so as not to be disappointed, and actually, the more I tell myself that, the more excited I get. Now, it will probably be a girl! We find out on MONDAY!! Can't wait!
  • Hi girls!!

We're on Team Green!  We honestly have no preference.  If it's a boy, I'll be excited because it would be nice to have the elder child be a boy (I'm traditional like that), but if it's a girl, I'll be excited because I've always dreamt of having a little girl!  I'll be sooo happy either way!

I want a boy so bad I can't stand it!! DH already has 2 girls, and I know they aren't mine, but I feel like I have experienced what it's like to have a girl...and it would make me so happy to finally give him a boy. I will be happy if it's a girl too, but would be super-duper happy if it's a boy!!! I can't wait to find out! We go on Sept. 22nd to find out, Dr said she wouldn't even try til then :(

I did that when I was pregnant with DD...I wanted a girl so bad that I convinced myself it was a boy just so I wouldn't be disappointed.  But it was a GIRL!  And I was thrilled, even though I had accepted the boy possibility.  I had NO morning sickness with her and everyone thought it was a boy.  I also grew up with a sister and she now has 2 girls...so it seems like that is just the way my family works, lol.

  • Up until this point I really didn't care either way, but I kind of want a boy now! I only had a sister growing up. We are planning 2-3 kids I only want one girl. But even though I want a boy, I would be soooo happy either way!
  • I always just assumed we'd have a boy, because it seems like DH family just has boys. But lately I've been getting this warm fuzzy feeling thinking about a little baby girl. I guess we'll see!

  • I knew this one was a boy.  Just a hunch I had from the beginning.   I would have been happy with a girl too, but I guess I never even really thought "girl".  We even had a name picked out for him, but were still in debate over a girl name.

  • Breezie-I feel the same way you do.  I want a girl so bad I can taste the sugar!  lol-my attempt at a joke.  If it is a girl-I dont really care if they next one is a boy or girl.  Of course if this one is a boy, I would want a girl next time but love this one just as much!
  • I do not care either way right now.  But that might change as we get closer.  I am currently convinced we are having a boy. DH and I would like to have a boy and a girl.  So I am excited to find out, but I have to wait for the end of Sept.

We're Team Green. I keep dreaming that I give birth to a boy. Or a cat... but that's a different story. I could go either way. I'm not very girly so it would be neat to have another girl in the house. At the same time, I think little boy stuff is absolutely adorable.

  • I am not sure that I have a gender preference, my I know all my family wants me to ave a boy, and DH would probably pick boy if he had the choice. I have always said that I would love to have a boy first and then a girl, but I have a gut feeling that it is a girl. So we will see. I just want a healthy baby, but I hope no one is disappointed with the results. We will know Sept. 16th yeah!!
  • Hi everyone -

I honestly do not care if I am having a boy or a girl. There was a time when I really wanted a little girl.. but when I became pregnant all that changed.  I have a strong feeling that I am carrying a precious little boy.  Whether boy or girl I will be happy either way.  No longer any preferences here (surprisingly)

  • I'm torn actually. I already have a ss, so we would like a girl this time. But logistically I would like a boy since we plan to have one more after this. If this one is a boy, lo and ss can share a room not just now (as they will if its a boy or girl) but as they grow up, plus we can reuse a lot of clothes, sicne they will only be 3 1/2 years apart. Where if we have a girl now, then a boy most of that is out. But I would rather have 2 girls than 2 boys, since I want one of each and already have ss. Oy.

  • QOTD:   I would love to have a little girl to help counter all the testosterone in this house.  DH & I are planning on having 2, so if this is a boy, hopefully the next is a girl.  Of course, his family would prefer a boy since there aren't any boys of that generation to carry on the family name

I should add that at our 12wk u/s the tech was fairly certain she saw penis & testicles, but we're not counting on that until the 20wk u/s.

  • We will not be finding out and I have no preference either way!

  • With my first, I was sure it was a boy even though everyone told me I was having a girl.  I was right and DH was so excited as he really wanted a boy!  This time around, we don't really care as long as the baby is happy.  I feel like I know how to do "baby boy" so it would probably be easier, but I'd also love to experience having a little girl.  I guess we'll have to wait 2 weeks until we find out!
  • I really want one of each, so since this is our first, there is really no pressure.  I have a strange feeling though, that we are going to end up with either two boys or two girls.  I think I'd really like a boy this first time around.
  • We were told boy at the NT Scan and will hopefully confirm this at our big U/S. We have always wanted a boy first and then we will try for a girl in a few years. So far the plan is good!

  • I won't find out what we're having until my 20 week appt in early October but I really really really want at girl. My gut (and my dreams) are telling me it's a boy. DH thinks it's a girl. We'll see!
  • I always love the drama of this question!  Wouldn't we all love and accept our babies no matter what?  Sure we have preferences...for gender, for health.  I just think it's funny how this question always has to be couched.

I don't really care.  I want to know, but I don't care (and I'm prepared not to know, with my daughter, they never could tell).  DH wants a boy though because he thought it was cool that he was an older brother to a younger sister.  3 more weeks until the big U/S.

I think subconciously that I have done that too. I have always wanted a girl! I am so girly so would love to have a daughter.  But the entire time I have felt like it was a boy-but I can't help but wonder if its my mind's way of preparing me ahead of time if it is a boy.  Actually, I have had several boy dreams, had another just last night, and all I can picture anymore is a boy.  It's working tho, I am now excited at the thought of a boy, DH wants one too. So I'll be happy now either way!

  • I can honestly say that I do not care.  Yes, I have two boys already, but that doesn't mean that I only want to have a girl this time around.  I am used to having boys.  I am used to everything that goes with boys.  But, it would be nice to have a little girl running around.  We'll see though next Wednesday.  However, from the start I have had this feeling that it was a girl...So regardless I am totally excited and anxious about finding out!

  • I would really love to have a boy.  I grew up in a house of boys, and was always more comfortable hanging out with boys growing up.  Boys crack me up.

That said, I tell people that I've got a win-win situation here, because what girl wouldn't love having a girl?

I can't wait to find out.....

  • Hello all!

My name is Chari. This is my first baby and I am due on Feb. 21st, 2010. I am scared as you know what but working towards being a happy mother. God be with me!

I actually want a little girl! But really just a healthy child would be a blessing to me.

    Many blessings.

  • I have this gut feeling that we are having a boy but we won't be finding out until February.  My DH really wants a boy, but honestly, I don't really care either way.  It's our first so I know we can always try for the opposite later on.

  • I would love either.  It doesn't matter.  Though i've felt all along that I am carrying a BOY.  We'll find out in less than two weeks!
  • I don't care either way, DH is hoping (praying) for a boy. I feel like it is a boy though. 3 more weeks and we find out! I can't wait!
  • We would both like a boy...but I have a feeling it's a girl. We are waiting until February to find out. My fiance wants to find out sooner but he's the worse at keeping secrets so I'm making him wait lol. Every year for Christmas he tries to find out what I bought him - he has no patience for surprises.
  • I really really want a girl! I even had a dream it was a girl! We took the intelligender test and it says boy along with chinese gender chart. I will definitely be happy with either, but I told DH we might have to keep trying to have a girl if we don't have one after the first two.
  • I have had a feeling for a while that this is going to be a boy but I'm equally excited about the possibility of it being a girl. I know DH would prefer a boy so that there can be an older brother for our future daughters but if it's a girl, she's totally going to have him wrapped around her finger!

Guess we'll find out in February!

  • We've both wanted a boy from the beginning but I never had an inkling one way or the other until I got the U/S. As soon as I saw the baby I just had this overwhelming feeling it's a boy. We have to wait 5 whole weeks to find out for sure. I don't know if I can stand the wait!

  • I really want a girl.  I hate saying that, because obviously we will be happy with a healthy baby no matter what the gender.  DH wants a boy.

  • I could really care less what I am having. Secretly I want a girl because there are no grand-daughters in the family right now. My boyfriend wants a boy though. It would be nice on our budget also if we had a boy because there are SOO many boy clothes and boy stuff from both sides.

  • I don't really have a preference but I think we're having a boy. I think that would be great especially because there is no one else on DH"s side to "carry on" the name. But I'd love a little girl too!

We find out in 12 days!

  • I don't really care either way, but in the long run I would kind of like to have one of each.  So I'm guessing with baby 2 I'll have more of a preference.

So far I think it's a girl.  Don't ask me why.

  • i want a girl DH wants a boy... but i see myself having a boy for some reason.... like when i dream of my baby its always a boy....

  • I am so excited to find out what it will be. I have no preference, but at times I would prefer a boy. I teach Kindergarten and always seem to get attached to the little boys. The girls are on the bratty side, but honestly, either would be perfect!
