Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Almost 11 months and not standing/walking?

Hi ladies! Anyone else's LOs not taking steps or standing unassisted yet? Heck, my little guy won't even crawl. He'd rather roll everywhere. I am concerned. but I know every child develops differently. Just curious if anyone else is going through this. Have a great day!

  • My guy is 11 months and not standing unassisted or taking steps. I am pretty sure that is normal. Not all babies crawl. If he can move by rolling he probably figured he doesn't need to learn to crawl.

I wouldn't be worried, but you can always ask your pedi!

  • LO is 11 months and doesn't stand unassisted.  he will take steps with help. We have some small ottomans that he's been pushing around. One of the admin at his school said "early talkers - late walkers" and vice versa...my LO talks a lot! She says that once he masters one of those (the one he deems more necessary) he'll move onto mastering the other. She has her degree in early childhood development...she had a lot of other info on it and why. So, as long as he's progressing I'm okay. He's also always been right on target and a little ahead at all of his previous check-ups.

  • My DD is 10.5 months and has only stood unassisted for a millisecond a few times and really has no interest it seems. I'm not worried they're still young! I must admit I am a tad sad because we wanted pics of her toddling around the pumpkin patch oh well there's always next year! And I agree with PP if you're worried check with your pedi!! :

  • I'm sure it's fine, not all babies are walking by the time they are 1 and that is perfectly normal. I don't think a doctor would be concerned until maybe 15 months or so.

  • I had friends who's kids never crawled. I had friends who's kids didn't walk until 18 months, 15 months, 16 months, etc. I wouldn't worry!

  • Don't stress!  My nephew just turned 15 months and just started walking and standing.  The normal age can go up to 18 months so you are a far cry from that.  If you are really stressed then you need to bring it to your doctors attention.  If they think its an issue they can refer you to a physical therapist.

  • Hi WI-mommy!! I think your DS is just fine. Walking is typically 12-15 months. My DD isn't walking yet and her OT says it's no big deal (we see the OT for feeding issues). Also remember, that since your DS was born early, his development may be slightly delayed (and you know I mean that in the nicest possible way!!).

  • My DD didn't stand independently until 14m and took her first steps at 16m.

  • My son is 12 months and still isn't walking.  He only started standing around 11.5 months, and only for brief seconds (pretty much just long enough to figure out he's not holding on to anything)

  • My LO will be 11 months next week and he's still not standing or walking. I'm not worried about it though. Like others have said, this is still considered early!
