What to pack for DS for a 6 hour plane ride?

The flight leaves at 6:30 PM so I won't need much food.  I'll pack bottles, a snack, puffs, water, and pacis.

How many toys should I pack and do I need a portable DVD player with a video?

Any other necessities? Or advice. TIA

  • No real advice, but I would take more snacks.  Unless you are SURE he will sleep most of the time.  I know when we went on a 10 hour trip (by car) DS didn't sleep as much as he would have at home and went through a lot of snacks!!

  • Loading the player...
  • DVDs don't hold DD's attention that well yet, and I cannot see her letting me put headphones on her.

I suggest lots of diapers (and little plastic baggies to put them in), 2 changes of clothes, and a variety of toys, but probably try to minimize the ones that make noise. It will eventually annoy the other passengers that are not used to hearing the same tune played ad nauseum. Maybe get a few new ones he has not seen before to hold his attention more.

  • I would bring more snacks, drinks and diapers than you think you will need.

I don't know about the DVD player, how will you listen to it? I know ds wouldn't wear headphones, and I wouldn't play it out loud because I wouldn't want to annoy people around us, especially on a night flight.

  • And if DS like fruit, bring bananas, raisins, and even fruit-cereal bars (DD likes the Gerber ones). Pack waay more food than you think you need. What is you get delayed on the tarmac or get rerouted somewhere?

Very good point...please don't let us get delayed!
