3rd Trimester

How far along were you when you could see baby's body parts?

I have heard some women state as early as 30 weeks.  I still can't make anything out but the butt. LOL

  • I can make out both the butt & the head - but am not sure which is which! I can see/feel them at the same time when she lays transverse & it drives me nuts. Other than that I cant really tell anything else.

  • I couldn't distinguish what was what until after 32 weeks when the doctor explained the position she was in.. then it was more obvious if what I was feeling/seeing was a fist, foot, butt, etc.

There are still plenty of times, however, that I don't have a clue what she's doing in there.

  • I can't ever.  I can see movement on the outside, but to be able to see which part...uh, no.

I can feel his feet, but it's because I know how he's positioned and can feel his kicks.

  • I can make out her head and that started about 33 weeks. I can't tell what anything else is.
  • I've seen/felt the hard little butt for a while. Probably around 34 weeks, I could see little feet or knees pooking out. It's not a clear outline, though, like some people see - but just like a little inch or two bump sticking out or moving across my belly.

I have had friends tall me they could see the imprint of a hand or foot on their bellies.  I have not felt a distinguishable foot or hand let alone seen one.  However, I think it would be amazing if I could.

  • I can tell the difference between the feet and butt. I know what position he is in too so makes it easier. I see the difference but I dont see foot impressions if that is what you are talking about.
  • This is my second child and I really can't tell what body part is sticking out.  I was having an ultrasound and I could have sworn his butt was sticking out and it turns out it was his knees.  And honestly, if someone tells you they can see a foot impression, I don't know if I would believe it.  There is still a lot of "stuff" between your skin and your baby's foot.  I could definitely be wrong, but I don't think it would be THAT distinguishable.

  • I think it was around 30 ish? Cant remember really. I THOUGHT I knew what body parts I was feeling and was 100% sure baby was tranverse and I was feeling bum and head on oposite sides but I went in to my dr's and she said baby's head was really low and bum/back was up one side and what I thought was a bum or a head was actually the feet/legs. Its odd how the feet creat a big bump but i think its because of how they are all squished up. Ever since 33/34 weeks I could feel babys feet and push the back and forth and play with them- its soo cute

  • I'm starting to feel pointy jabs compared to large round shapes, but I'm not sure what I'm looking at yet.
  • I still cannot tell for sure though I'm pretty sure there's a baby buttcrack against my belly right now.

  • I have no idea what's what, lol.  I just make it up as I go and say, "Ooh, there's a foot!"  ... but I don't know.

  • I know he was head down a few weeks ago - and so I think what I am mostly feeling is his butt. I feel mostly on one side. could be a foot at times. not sure since i just feel something hard.

  • Around 30-31 weeks.  Limbs were the easiest to distinguish at first because I could trace them with my fingers.  My midwife told me what position the baby was in and from there it was super easy. The head is always pretty hard whereas the butt is a bit softer.  Once you know where the head is, it's easy to find the other parts. Unsure of where the head is? Follow the hiccups!

  • I've been able to see knees and elbows since about 27 weeks.  Nothing more than that though.
