I have a friends shower next weekend and she is registered at BRU and there isnt one near by to me. I can look at her registry online to see what she wants and possibly get something at Target or Walmart (those stores are closer to me) but how would she and others know that something has been purchased? Is there any way to show it purchased without acutally buying it from the store or online? Sounds like a no, but thought I'd ask.

Re: Friend registered at BRU-Help
I haven't tried it so I don't know for sure... but maybe you could call BRU and they might be able to check it off her registry as purchased??
If not, I'd still go ahead and get it at Target (or wherever is convenient for you) and just be sure to get a gift reciept in case there are duplicates. Another option would be to just purchase it online at BRU and have them ship it to her house... then at the shower just give her a card with a photo of the item and say that it's on it's way.
Who is running her shower? Perhaps they have access to her registry? My Mom is able to log into mine to make sure things don't go out of stock and to make deletions like that. Maybe she has someone who is also doing that?
She (or someone) can go in and mark it off the registry, and if you have the item number, you can often call and say you purchased the item but forgot to have it marked off at the register and they'll fix it.
But there is always a possibility of duplicates, so be sure to include gift receipts to facilitate an easy return.

I've actually purchased things at different stores than a registry quite often for one reason or another. If you're sure you're getting the same item, just buy it at the Target or Walmart and then call the original store. You can tell them the registry # offline & tell them you forgot to take the registry with you to the register when you bought the item. They can mark it bought over the phone.
ETA: Also, if there is a Toys R Us by you, they sometimes carry the registry items as well.
