The paperwork my Dr gave me said to call the hospital and schedule @ 12 weeks. Is this the normal time frame, or is it possibly because my hospital has a suuuuper long wait list? Have you scheduled yours?
My doctor said to schedule around 20 weeks and make sure the last class was over at least 5 weeks prior to my due date. I'd look into signing up for classes at 12 weeks if that's what your doc recommends, but I don't think you'd need to start taking them that early.
I scheduled ours last week because my midwife said they fill up extremely fast. My BF class isn't until November and then we have two Labour and Delivery classes in December.
I think I scheduled ours around 4 weeks ago and it doesn't start for another 2 weeks. Some hospitals have longer wait lists than others. Mine was cutting it pretty close scheduling it 6-7 weeks out.
It doesn't hurt to go ahead and call to get the schedule and ask how quick they normally fill up.
We registered about 20 weeks or so. I was told our classes fill up. We were also told to go in the 3rd tri, but then we couldn't make the schedules work. We started our class last week, and go every week for 4 weeks. (This weeks was cancelled) My due date is the latest in the class, but ony by a few weeks, so we are fine.
I registered around 20 weeks, and by then a lot of the classes were full. I'll be 29 weeks at the BF class, 32 weeks at the child birth class, and 36 weeks at the infant care class. I definitely wish I would have registered sooner!
