I am. I had no other choice. With high BP and tachycardia, the risk of the baby not getting enough oxygen, etc. far outweighed the possible side effects.
What are your fears?
I can tell you that I definitely don't feel great while on it, but it has definitely controlled my BP and heart rate! We just had our first growth ultrasound and the baby is measuring right on target. Make sure that they are monitoring the baby while you are on it!

i was put on at 13 weeks. my bp is now normal and should stay that way up until the end hopefully. the consequences of not taking it are way worse if you don't. i notice the improvment within a few days
Hey! I got put on it before i got pg bc my dr knew we wanted a baby after our wedding in october, well we got a suprise! Anyways, i was concerned about it also and she assured me that alot of pregnant woman are put on it and that its perfectly safe! My blood pressure has never been better. My OB also said that i will be getting more u/s to monitor the babies growth.
I've been on it for a couple weeks now and my BP was right on at my last visit. I feel constantly tired now which I was tols by my doctor is common and that around the time I'm tires of being pregnant I'll stop feeling tired from the labetalol. He assures me it is completely safe and the effects of having high blood pressure would be worse. It just stinks though that I've done everything to be healthy and this popped up so early. I've never had high BP before and keep telling myself it's not forever.
I have been on it since about 6 months prior to BFP. They were originally going to put me on ACE inhibitors, but when I told the doctor that my husband and I were trying to get pregnant, they put me on labetalol instead. It's safe for pregnant women.
Are your fears related to the side effects or the effects on the fetus? I will say, the side effects were less than pleasant for the first week or two. I felt dizzy, sleepy, and just kinda out of it. But I was still able to work and they completely went away once my body adjusted.
My BP has been stable since I started the medication and I'm grateful for that.
I was on labetalol from about 24 weeks until the end of my pregnancy (which ended in pre-e). I have a healthy baby boy now. It is safe for use in pregnant woman. The risks of High BP are far worse than labetalol. Definately take your prescribed dosage.
