I learned my lesson last time: crib set = cute = waste of $$
Where are you buying your separates? Are you making something? Are you doing a DIY theme, just doing colors, or buying some theme pieces from a collection?
we are most likely buying crib sheets, I'm making the curtains, bedskirt and some room accessories, my mom is making a crocheted crib bumper. My grandma already made us a girl's quilt, it will be for decor of for laying on the floor for baby but not in the crib. Our theme is Fairies, with a color scheme of purple and aqua.

I'm just using the same sheets we bought for DS - from BRU. That's all we did last time too. I'm glad I didn't spend a lot of money on an expensive bedding set for him to spit up, poop, and pee all over, haha
We'll just buy crib sheets and blankets, probably from BRU and Target. I think we're just going to go with certain colors but we haven't gotten that far yet. I'm going to make artwork for the walls, but I also haven't figured out what I want to draw yet... but if I see any sheets or accessories that go with my paintings, I may buy some.
To make it easy on myself, I've decided to get just solid crib sheets. For "accent" pieces, I'm going to get a cute rug and some wall murals. I haven't actually picked anything out yet.
(I'm trying to go for an owl theme - but we'll see.)
Although I usually do not respond to posts with improper grammar in the title, I happen to agree wholeheartedly with the content!
I never got into the whole matchy bed in a bag thing for myself, why would I with the baby?
We are doing a "theme," per se, but it's a definite hodgepodge. We're doing a Peter Rabbit/ Beatrix Potter "theme" (as everybody already knows!). We're buying a valence from PBK, and possibly a cribskirt. If I don't like the PBK cribskirt (it's not out yet), I'll make one of those. We're getting plain white sheets for the crib, so I can bleach them when they get nasty.
I'm making valences out of either pink or blue BP toile (3 windows in nursery). I'm making a cushion cover and an over the arm organizer for the rocking chair. I'm also making covers for the changing pad, a diaper stacker, and a diaper organizer, all out of coordinating, but not matching BP fabrics.
A (possibly) long-running project (if I can't sew it by machine) will be making a quilt out of a panel I got on eBay, and it will be backed in green toile.
I'm enjoying trolling the interwebs looking for various BP fabrics!

I registered for the bumper and crib skirt separate along with several sets of sheets. I was trying to find just a nice quilt not in a set that I could match to the bumper/skirt. I found one at target that I loved.
I bought the sheets and a blanket (from BRU) I liked to base the colors off of and am getting the crib skirt made from a fabric that coordinates. We are using a breathable bumper.
I thought about a crib bedding set but this post makes me rethink my idea...thanks!

we bought a crib set that would match a boy or girl so we could also pass it down and the crib is a 4in1 so we can change it, we'll just have to buy a new one per kid lol
I am not buying a crib set. It seems like a waste of money in the end. I bought a cute bumper, and a bunch of different colored sheets (pink and brown mostly). Then my aunt is making a blanket that I will be using for the baby.
we aren't "themey" (is that even a word?) people, i am going to buy some crib sheets that aren't too expensive, get plain curtains that match the colors in the room and that's about it!
what we are doing to decorate the room is picking a few of our favorite childrens books and getting prints of the covers, framing them and hanging them in the room. Then i will probably stencil in some quotes from each book on the wall. So now i am not sure if that is a theme or not LOL!
Probably no crib set. We're doing the nursery in a neutral brown/creams/ivory so I'm just planning on picking up things (crib sheet, curtains, comparable lamp) that work with that. Not planning on getting any theme-collection pieces but I do reserve the right to impulse-buy something cute.
I purchased a sheet, blanket and skirt all from Target for $25. I put a bumper on our BRU registry. I also registered for solid sheets that go with the sheet I purchased from Target.

I just bought the valances, border and rug to the set I like. We're doing plain blue bedding because it's WAY cheaper.?
Target has them on sale right now for about 8 bucks
