Cribs- How much did or will you pay and what did or will you get?

Were looking at the Munire Majestic and we got a price of 599.00 for it and was wondering if it was a good price or not.

Have you ever seen the Munire on sale they told me in the store that they never go on sale.

EDIT - I guess i should add that this crib goes from Crib to toddler bed to full size bed.

  • Oh holy cow I'm looking for something under $200... but I also need two.  Haha.  Good luck, I have no idea which crib you're talking about :)

  • Our max was $300. We went with the Baby Mod Cadence 4-in-1 in expresso from Wal-Mart and it cost $230 (including tax).
  • Our crib was regular 375.00, and my mil and fil got it for 250.00.  It's not a munire, but I love it!
  • Our crib is in the 300-400 range
  • i spent $180 on my beautiful crib, after tax and delivery. i think $600 is  WAY too much for a crib.  alot of people will think  im wrong on this, but imo tooo expensive.

  • We are paying $499 for the Cocoon Series 1000 crib. It was on sale they claimed (bought it at a local nursey furniture store). They carried a lot of Munire items and I thought they had some sale signs hanging on some of the pieces (I could be wrong though). We looked at the Munire Essex crib and i want to say it was $399 (but it was one of their less expensive cribs).

  • I saw a floor model of a munire at USA Baby in our local store for around $450 I believe. I got the Babys Dream Generation Next for $420. It was a floor model.
  • Ours was originally close to $250 from target. My parents found it on sale for $212 and got it for us. With the mattress we were just under $300

  • I got the Bergamo Americana Lifetime crib with dresser and combo unit on sale for $599 (before tax) including all 3 pieces.  It seems like it is pretty good quality, but I have never seen the Munire Majestic to compare it to.

  • Well, our crib was $800, and I don't regret it.  It's perfect.

  • We got the Sorelle Vicki and paid around $250 for it. It's regularly $330 but we got 25% off. The toddler/daybed conversion kit was another $70, which we went ahead and ordered as well. We won't be getting the full bed conversion kit - that was another $139. We plan to keep it as a daybed once the baby outgrows it - we'll leave it in his/her room and use it as a little reading bench.

you and your DH must be really well off because that price is outrageous!  I am thinking under 250.

JC Penny's is having a sale on cribs.  I laughed b/c it said if you buy two or more it's even more discounted & thought to myself "why would you buy more than one"  But I guess you would need to if you are having twins!!  Duh..I'm not very smart today!  Anyway, point is JC penny is having a good sale with Free shipping.  Ours is $399

  • We just ordered a Capretti crib that was $899.  I know it is on the expensive side although it does convert into a toddler and full size bed.  I have read very good things about the Munire furniture line.
  • Ours is pricey but it converts to toddler bed and then a full size later.
  • Our budget for the crib is under $300.

  • We spent 200 for the crib and 85 for the mattress. Both from wal-mart.com. Baby Mod crib (rated well in Baby Bargains) and Sealy Baby coil mattress.

Everyone has different priorities. If that is where you want to spend more, go for it. But if you aren't crazy about the crib, there are definitely less expensive options out there if you do some research.

We spent less on the crib, but were able to put the money saved toward recarpeting the nursery and a mural.

For DS we got a Bassett Baby solid oak convertible crib for $350 I think. And I thought that was pretty expensive enough.

This time around I just picked up a solid oak 'lifetime' crib on CL for $80. Steal of the century. See my post above.

  • We got the DaVinci Parker 4 in 1 convertible crib. DH's grandparents bought it for us Smile It was originally $289, but they paid $260 with free shipping because the first time it was delivered it was damaged.

  • we got the munire essex -- i want to say we paid like $330 for it (reg price was around $400). We got ours "on sale" so I would keep shopping around. Also you can ask for a discount if you buy multiple pieces too (we bought the combo table too). good luck.
  • We got the Babi Italia Pinehurst dropside/single crib in Espresso, on sale for about $220.

  • DH got a great crib at a garage sale. It's a convertible one and got a brand new unused mattress to go with it all for $80!! Woo-hoo!! Great shopping. The best part though was that he bought it and set it up while I was out of town so I was totally suprised to come home and see it set up in our baby's room in our new apartment. It was awesome.
  • We paid $250 for ours. It's the Simplicity Ellis. Also a 4 in 1 and we love it. It has gotten us through both of our boys and we will probably use it foir this baby, too. It's good looking and sturdy.
  • We got a convertable crib also, ours was $250 total with shipping, matress, and crib.

  • I got a Munire Newport, but I don't remember what the crib alone cost. It was $2,200 for the crib, armoir and dresser.
  • We got the Munire Essex for $399.  It also converts to a toddler and full size bed.
  • I spent $1200 on a Romina Crib...i think $599 is very resonable!
  • Munire is gorgeous. The crib I'm getting will be $499, a nice heirloom convertible, so I'm with you on spending the money to get what I want.?

  • I think ours was similarly priced...we have a Munire as well (Essex), and it is beautiful...the thing to keep in mind is that DC will have this set of furniture for the rest of their lives (well, as long as they're living at home and/or want to keep it!). I think of the costly price tag as an investment since it's also a toddler bed and converts into a full sized bed!

I've never really seen Munire on sale, but maybe check on discontinuing styles..I bet you could score them at a discount...

  • I found the one I like (da vinci parker 4 in 1) + the dresser for 599 including shipping. Pretty good! I don't plan on getting a changing table, just attaching a changin pad on top of the dresser.
  • Baby Italia Pinehurst Espresso--about $330.

I subscribe to the philosophy of buying things that will last till the kid is 18 and won't have to be replaced, because if you buy something cheap and then have to buy something else, like a bed or bigger dresser, then essentially you paid twice as much.

  • Well, everyone's budget is different, but $600 for just the crib is out of ours.  We've decided to go with the DaVinci Kalani.  It converts from a crib to a toddler bed to a daybed to a full size bed.  I've found it for $309 and the full size conversion rails are $110.  I don't think that it's an unreasonable amount of money to spend for a solid wood piece of furniture that will grow with our child.  It also got good reviews.
  • It took us a long time to decide and we looked at some pretty pricey cribs around $400-$500 but after lots of research and thinking we are getting the Davinci 4 in 1 Parker https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2932206

We are actually ordering it this week and it will be less than $300. The matching dresser/hutch we got was a bit of a splurge at $600 though since I know for sure she will be using that for a long time. We may not end up using the full size bed that the crib convert too because it may be too big for her room.

Good Luck in what you decide but make sure you do lots of research and googling to try and find it cheaper somewhere else.
