Is it okay to use the microwavable steam bags instead of steaming veggies on the stovetop?

    I don't see why not.  I always use the stove top though.

    Yes, it is okay.  I use a rice cooker to steam mine (it's so easy!).  I've used the micro, but I find everything comes out better in the rice cooker.

    Yep. Just check the ingredients. Sometimes those have extra salt, sugar, or other ingredients you don't necessarily want your LO to have just yet.

    Many people use them.

    They kind of freak me out.  I worry about the plastic leaching into my food when it is heated in the microwave.

    Yup, I do it all the time...I just don't do mixed veggies.  DD loves them and hasn't had any problems.

    I don't see why not . . .I have seen a few people use those steamfresh bags before pureeing.   I go with stovetop because I am too cheap to buy the bags :)

    Carson Henry, born 39w, 2d, via emergency c/s due to no fetal movement and fetal distress.  Seizures, IVH grade 2, brain injury, kidney and liver damage.  Complete blood clot in the artery in his right arm.  27 days in the NICU.  Now discharged from all specialists, excepts his kidney doctor, who will monitor him indefinitely.  My tough little cookie.

    FWIW I do try to get the organic microwave steam veggies so that I'm not getting tons of preservatives and salt.

    I don't think most sane people do.

    I have a total chemical/toxin paranoia.  Many nesties can attest to that!
