... that means there is the possibility you might care less than you already do of said subject.
The proper grammar in the instance you wish to use it reads as follows:
"I could NOT care less," meaning there is no possible way you could care any less than you already do. Presumably meaning you care as little as possible for said topic.
Along those same lines ...
LOSE, not LOOSE ... you are not letting animals loose, you are losing an important item
THEY'RE means THEY ARE
THEIR is possessive (as in their child)
THERE is a place in space (I went there)
You ACCEPT an invitation from someone EXCEPT when you cannot go.
It is BIZARRE when you meet someone at the BAZAAR.
And please do not write "y'all" unless you intend to spell it properly ... it is a contraction for the words YOU ALL. (ya'll, yal'l, and yee haw are unacceptable forms.)
Violators will be given a warning before being sent before the judge.
Re: If you write "could care less" ...
you forgot the worst one!!! YOUR AND YOU'RE!! so many people misuse it.
you're so cute, but your husband is not.
You SHOULD OF posted this a long time ago
What about spelling mistakes? People, it's "ridiculous" not "rediculous"!!!
I've never seen this word spelled incorrectly until I came to The Bump. I see at least once a day.
"Alot" is one of my pet peeves. It is two words people! This bothers me a lot.
Thank you for y'all. It drives me nuts when people put the ' in the wrong spot.
BFP #2 = 3/30/09 DD born 12/9/09
BFP #3 = 5/17/11 EDD = 1/27/12

Our family blog
I've been seeing this one a lot, and it drives me crazy. It's the baby's room, not babies room. There is only one baby and the room belongs to him/her. If you are having twins/multiples it would be babies' room.
If anyone has any issues remembering this *cough*tstumph*cough*, I thought they could hang onto this handy little chart:
Dx PCOS 09/08 2000mg Met
TTC #1 from 05/08-02/09 BFP 02/26/09
DD Born 11/11/09
Suprise Baby #2 on the way! EDD 8/16/13
I love you! My husband calls me the grammar nazi. I find it appalling how often seemingly educated people murder the English language!
Other things that irk me:
She and I vs. Her and I - She and I went to the store. Before typing, test the sentence - remove the conjunction and see if either sentence can stand alone.
Supposably is not any word I am familiar with.
Unless you are paying for texts by the line, you can write out the full word - if ur 2 bz 2 uz full wrds then please do not respond
Then vs. than - Then expresses time. Than is used to compare.
Thank you!!!!!
THIS DRIVES ME INSANE!
IRL I actually had someone "correct" me when I used the proper "couldn't care less" and say "that's wrong, it's actually could care less" and give me an eye roll. I would like to print your post and pin it to the board in her office.
it's called a kilt, he's scottish
Thank you, GP.
And my favorites:
prolly - if you use this, you're prolly living in a trailer park after flunking out of 3rd grade.
irregardless - FAIL. not a word.
It's funny you point this out because Rediculous is actually the word used in a harry potter book as a spell. I got into an argument with a woman because she insisted this was the correct spelling and not a made up word for a book (albeit a good book) about teenage wizards.
How about WEIRD and WIERD (which is not a word) or BOARD and BORED?
After serving my time on 1st Tri (and I still have a few days left) I am so sick of seeing "Congrads" for BFP announcements.??Ahhhhh!
Thank you! My DH claims that one of the reasons he fell in love with me was my correct use of "couldn't care less".
If you think you are pregnate, you are to dumb to be pregnant.
I'm sorry you had a D & C but it's not a DNC. The Democrats had nothing to do with it.
Just so you all know...Canadian (British) English spellings are sometimes different than American English.
ie. Colour vs color, favourite vs favorite, centre vs center, defence vs. defense
There are a few Canadians on the board and I wouldn't want any of you thinking we can't spell because we add a "u" or substitute a "c" for an "s" in some cases.
For the record, the one that bugs me the most is lose/loose.
LOL!
Can I add in something about proper punctuation and spacing?
I hate when all you see is giant walls of text, a thousand periods or exclamation points. It makes my eyes bleed!
it's called a kilt, he's scottish
For everyone who is into annoying grammar humor you should read "eats, shoots and leaves: The zero tolerance approach to punctuation" written by Lynne Truss. It is short and has some funny examples of poor grammar. At least I thought it was funny. Additionally it made me feel better knowing I am not the only one who dislikes when people just can't seem to grasp writing in English.
Thank you to the person who posted about "supposably."
It's supposedly. Supp-os-edly. Say it with me, folks.
The one that I see ALL the time is "suppose to" -- It's supposeD to. It is never, ever appropriate to write "suppose to." You can suppose something but ... forget it. You catch my drift.
Not that I expect everyone to know this but while we're at it, you drive FARther and look into something FURther.
I have to agree. That annoys me more than any spelling or grammar mistakes.
THANK YOU!
I see this mistake ALL.THE.TIME, and it seems to be the one grammatical error that *never* gets called out. "Of" is not a verb. Oi.
THIS! How can one go through life not being corrected is beyond me!
